Need a RTCW doctor

Tried to say goodbye to this game, but as you all know THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Bought it off Steam. Now I get disconnected every time a round ends, and then when I try to join back up it says I've been BANNED for a minute or two, then it lets me join back up. Until a round ends and it starts all over again.

Any ideas on how to fix this discon problem? I thought it might be a CD key issue, but Steam doesn't give out CD Keys for RTCW so either way I don't know what to do.

Thanks Man-at-Arms. I dug out an old RTCW copy and entered the CD Key and now I am not getting disconnected, so I think it was not having a key entered.
