I agree with Etwas and Pipi. I think Escape, Church, and Tundra especially would go over pretty well to start with. Tundra for sure in my opinion. Just something to think about.

And the max lives on castle for axis are baaaad. I thought it was just me, but I've noticed like 3 times recently that axis always skull ridiculously fast. Even just two more lives would make a world of difference. Every time it seems to happen, teams seem like they are okay, so I am just in agreement with Etwas that defense may just need a few more lives.

[[[MAD.etwas]]] wrote:i agree, we really need some new maps. the only custom map we get is frostbite.
like pipi said: projekt schwalbe, flooded town, tundra, escape -> great maps
i also suggest mml_church, hydro dam, wizernes, tundra, kungfu (well, ok, we get kungfu every 2 months once), paderborn, password2, communique (way better than base), beach2e, tank, river... there are tons of awesome maps. maybe just add some from time to time please? and maybe some more creativity by admins when changing maps, i know there are already other custom maps than frostbite (must be msb's favourite) on the server.

also, maa, please re-think the maxlives settings on some maps. can't be whole axis team gets skulled 10 minutes b4 round ends on castle (and teams weren't that bad).

cheers
Frostbite is one of my favorites and I usually do start rotation with it. It's hardly the only custom map you get. I also watch what people are voting for and go there. Not everyone wants to sit on beach. We also play Kungfu and Tundra and Axis Complex and Dam and unfortunately Tram. Depends on how many players are on and if these maps will kill the server. Market Garden is on the server and Depot but no one wants them. I agree with new maps. Gets old playing 2 minute games and then we are back at beach. More creativity by the admins? We work with what we have and the players on. I agree that axis should get more lives on a few of the maps.

I think Escape, Church, and Tundra especially would go over pretty well to start with. Tundra for sure in my opinion. Just something to think about.
Church has been on and it sits with few people on. Tundra gets played.

A few suggestions: - supplydepot: one of the best ET maps exists also in RTCW form, why not try it?
- Airship/Airstrip
- schwalbe
- mk_floodedtown
- etc... loads more good ones on that site
These maps have been on the server and sat dead no matter how much we pushed them for people to download.

the problem with new maps is the slow download-speeds we get from rtcw i think. people are just not patient enough to dl the maps from the server or are too lazy to dl em elsewhere.
but since maa rebuilt the server the dl-speeds highly increased on ecg. only took me some moments last time i dlded a map (is this an iortcw thing?).
so i think more people would play other maps now (other option would be play no wolf at all). lets just try it out and maybe give em some time on a new map (like maa did in the past with casino(?).)

on [[[MaD]]] we have a rotation since a year or so with various custom maps and it worked out too.

There always has been a selection of most of the custom maps mentioned on the server. (Switched up occassionally)
The admins haven't been using them the vast majority of the time though.

Yes...Map downloads should be dramatically faster with iortcw (much faster with the vanilla client...and much much much faster with iortcw client)

MAA

Same thing still happening.. one round it goes straight back to beach. and someone is immediately calling vote for another map.. we go thru a few min of a started round and finally a map takes .

If theres anyway to make more rounds on a map,, or to have maybe a longer time after a full round to allow voting etc. Because right now it immediately goes back to beach soon as it ends.

Also, can you strengthen the kick in the kickable air strikes? seems weaker than it used to be.

Thanks .

agree with pixi on those maps I think tundra is already on there but not the doc cap version, escape used to be there but is not anymore, church great map and easy to learn and password 2 was always popular and fun.

you guys are fully capable and welcome to start a maps thread. This thread was / is regarding the server and how it handles the beach map vs. one that is voted on,, or put on by the admin.

Why do you keep posting the same thing over and over? I already answered you in the 2nd post.
It's highly annoying.

Do it again and your account goes poof.

You put the subject of this thread as "Suggestion". They are giving their "suggestion".

Wait, are you saying I'm able to play on ECGN with the iortcw client from my Linux?

I'm a RTCW-MP player with the original ID client (plus latest patch 1.41b) from Linux since 2003-04 (aprox), currently I'm using CentOS 6.8 x86_64 because is the only maintainable Linux platform where I was capable of running the original client. I tried run RTCW on CentOS 7 or newer Fedora and it doesn't work, it looks like there are some incompatibilities in new glibc versions.

I'm very worried because CentOS 6 has EOL in 2020, so I'd like to be able to jump to a newer Linux but keep playing on ECGN. So, do you meant that I'm able to use the iortcw client without any problems with PunkBuster, etc.?

I'm an old player but I'm not good tweaking RTCW files, so excuse if my question seems silly for you. :)
Thanks.

Yeah...you can use iortcw.

https://github.com/iortcw/iortcw/releases

Probably will be putting a new release out soon as well.

Really? that's great news!! :)
I thought that iortcw was only for the server side and people had to still use the original ID client, as I do.
Thanks!
