I don't remember who banned me, some wTh guy with white colours... maybe slaughter? anyways...

I was in the server and some douche was shooting me in the back for the entire round and I told him to cut it out... so after about 20min of putting up with it I turned around and tk'd him. As soon as that happened people started shooting me in his defence or something stupid like that and I tk'd them before they could get me. Anyway, this admin comes in (and excuse me but I have no idea who's admin at ECGN so I wouldn't know to talk to him) and after getting fed up with people shooting me I leave. I guess he thought that I was just tk'ing people to be a douche bag and disconnecting so he bans me. The next day I join the server and as I start typing to him to explain myself I get perma'd.

I know that I shouldn't have been tk'ing people anyway but I don't know who's admin at the server I don't play there a whole lot. MAA is the owner, and that's all that I know.

This is a common misunderstanding. That is a CVAR used by Fritzbot v0.54b. Fritzbot is a server-side MOD that allows players to play with or against computer generated players. The specific CVAR “bot_enable” is automatically set to 1 when Fritzbot is loaded. It simply means that Fritzbot is enabled. Here is the home page for the MOD, as well as the main information page.

The reason that “bot_enable” had the value of 1 is because I run a private Fritzbot server sometimes when there aren’t many people on RtCW, being able to control the skill of the people you are against can also help you get better at the game. When I entered a server (I believe it was Hell’s Gate because SnipeTX first approached me about this CVAR) the CVAR was still set to 1 because I had not restarted RtCW.

If you need any more confirmation of this, please go to http://www.punksbusted.com and ask one of the ban moderators for some information on this specific CVAR. Or, go to http://www.evenbalance.com and ask their RtCW Staff. You can also download Fritzbot for yourself, load it, and then exit the server. Open up console and type /bot_enable and see that the value is recorded as 1, even thought the server itself is no longer running. The CVAR itself is technically in all RtCW games, but it is pretty much an inate CVAR unless you are running a MOD like Fritzbot. Or you can always just google it.

Sorry for the confusion, but as you can see it is clearly not a cheat related CVAR. Various other MODs incorporate the same CVAR and I have not heard of it being used in a cheat.

So please, would you kindly unban?

Sounds like crap to me. If you were running a fritzbot server then any changes would be written in the fritzbot config not the one for osp. When you changed to osp it would have loaded the osp config without the bot_enable.

I have that mod and occasionally use it to warm up and I have never been kicked by pb.

Lets face it it wouldn't be exactly tricky to rename the cvars for an actual hack to match those used by an existing mod.

I'm not convinced and in the absence of any personal knowledge of you or your game I am gonna go with the general consensus on ganja and leave you banned.

Also, bot_enable is not only a CVAR used by MODs. It is a default CVAR in RtCW, and is simply given the value of 1 when a MOD is running bots. To make a cheat CVAR of the same name would require deleting bot_enable from the original coding, which to my knowledge is impossible. The CVAR in question is declared globally, which is why it would be valued at 1 despite being in OSP.

Is there a CVAR check for "bot_enable" at ECGN? I know that many servers do not include this CVAR in their checks. I will try to find more information as the day goes on in order to clear this up as soon as possible.

As far as the Ganja Palace goes, this CVAR kick has absolutely nothing to do with why I am banned. I am banned from that server because of personal feelings and higher stats, rather than evidence. Please to not let their filth judgements act as reasons for yours.

As for knowledge of my gameplay, the only thing that I can offer you is a yawn.be record of me playing since January 01, 2003, which is when the record for all wolfplayers first began. I have played longer than that.

Apparently, bot_enable was a Q3 CVAR that was just left in the Q3 engine rather than taking it out to satisfy RtCW.

As for your argument that it could be deleted and re-declared as a cheat CVAR, if it were possible or realistic, that logic would apply to any CVAR in any game.

You could have people hacking with cg_teamoverlay, and it seems kind of rediculous to ban someone because a CVAR has the word bot in it.

Assume that I was kicked for r_intensity 7, and then think about your argument.
