Why is there no 9700XT?

Postby LordShard » Mon Mar 01, 2004 10:08 pm

I looked it up and for a minimal amount of extra money I could get a 9700pro over a 9600XT and get much better bang for the buck. So my question is, WHY NO 9700XT?!

a 9700XT would have to be faster than a 9700pro, so basically it would be a 9800 with a different name. it wouldn't really have a purpose

I looked at all the benchmarks and the 9700Pro is better and even beats the 5600 Ultra everytime (and the 9800XT once o_O)

i think the 9800pro is around 15% faster, but don't quote me on that.

Thanks, makes sense though. GOod thing I didn't buy the 9600XT yet :ar15:
was surprised the 9600XT (low end card) out performed the 5600Ultra (highend card) every time in just about everything. o_O

mmmm, 9600xt is more of a mid-range card, and the 5600ultra is a low end card (it's not REALLY a low end card, but it performs like one)

which card are you going to buy?

I think I will definatly buy the 9700Pro

$185 - RADEON 9700 128MB
$175 - RADEON 9600 XT 256MB
$149 - RADEON 9600 XT 128MB

The newegg.com prices are about $5 more expensive but worth it just because of it's from a respectable dealer.
