Wolf 1.5a (aka iortcw) released!

Postby MAN-AT-ARMS » Sat Nov 19, 2016 3:49 pm

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of RTCW, a new release of iortcw is now available for download.

The version number was bumped to 1.5a (15th anniversary). This is also to help avoid the continued duplication of version numbering with other projects.

As usual, more updates and fixes. This is more of a bug fix release rather than new feature additions.

Full list of changes are here:
https://github.com/iortcw/iortcw/compare/1.42d...1.5a

Library updates:
SDL2 (2.0.4), OpenAL Soft (1.17.2), Freetype (2.6.4), curl (7.46.0), ogg (1.3.2), opus (1.1.2), vorbis (1.3.5), and zlib (1.2.8).

Cvar fixes / adds:
cg_crosshairHealth (Vanilla - fixed)
cg_showblood/com_blood (Vanilla - fixed turning this off)
cg_drawCrosshairBinoc and cg_drawCrosshairReticle (New SP - sniper/snooper/binoc reticle crosshairs as they appear in vanilla)

General:
Rend2 optimization and improvements.
Some general sound and rendering bug fixes.
Some joystick/gamepad improvements.
Corrected the Punkbuster GUID hash calculation for 64 bit clients.
Re-implement official master as default and some heartbeat optimization.
Improved shader syntax/error messages.
Other stuff.

MAA,

This is pretty awesome man. While my primary Macbook was in the shop I tested out the Mac client on my older Macbook and have a couple bugs to report.

1) Every couple minutes the video completely cuts out. This could be my machine but thought I would let you know. Running OSX 10.9.5 (specs below).
2) Binding a key to CAPSLOCK doesn't seem to work right. I have +zoom for capslock and it does not allow my to use the binocs.

Here are the system specs

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro6,2
Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Processor Interconnect Speed: 4.8 GT/s

Sudden Motion Sensor:
State: Enabled

Keep up the good work. I love what you have done with ioRtcw.

Caps lock on MBP have been problematic for a few years now.

They are designed not to activate instantly so you don't bump the key on. They say you need to hold them longer. Not sure if that's the issue or not but I'll try it on mine (mine are a little older than yours though so I'm not sure if it has the same issue)

I haven't seen any screen black outs either. Which graphics controller is on yours? I have one with ATI and also one with NV I can try if needed.

Unfortunately, I can't get 1.5a to install on my machine. I have a Vista Home Basic SP2 machine, and neither Windows mirror worked. Any suggestions?

I managed to run it on Windows 10 successfully. More stable than the stock on Windows 10 despite a minimum loss of FPS.

edit: The problems I noticed are, 1) /writeconfig is actually broken. Like it's not at all writing anything into the main folder. I'll try to work around the problem. :(

That unfortunately led to a my own blunder. Another after executing one of my configs, my framerates seemed to be capped to 60fps despite not able to get 125fps working at all. com_maxfps was already set to 125.

edit:
Besides /writeconfig being broken as a "1)".

We'll leave it up to MAA and continue the great work MAA! :)

Okay, scratch the framerate cap. It is a user problem on my end, its AMD's Crimson. I've accidentally turned on two variable 'Wait for Vertical Refresh' and 'Surface Format Optimization' which limited my framerate to 60 fps by accident.

It's v13 over here.

NVIDIA does the same thing in their drivers now.
You need to uncheck the "Sync to VBlank" in the Open GL options to run the vanilla client at 125.
(iortcw is not affected by that setting though)

Sorry for basics, but what can it be used for?

Aren't all servers pure and will not allow this? Will ecgn allow running iortcw from client?

Also, would you consider allowing custom huds? cg_hudFiles is locked in rtcw, but in quake live that revolutionized the game for enthusiasts

iortcw is an updated engine, not a mod. In other words, it's not intended to change any aspects of the vanilla game or gameplay itself (or the HUD)

It's primary purpose is to fix bugs, platform portability / compatibility, stability.

iortcw can be used on ECGN with the release versions of the game modules (cgame_mp and ui_mp in mp_bin0.pk3) or the stock ones (in mp_bin.pk3)

Thanks, MAN-

Another question, since PB is disabled, but there's equivalent support for calculating user GUIDs, is there a an equivalent of pb_plist command that would return all players guids? Or single another player guid?
