Hi, I was playing on your server when I was kicked and banned from it for no apparent reason. I was driving a Sherman and firing down on the Axis airfield when I was kicked/banned.

I went to IRC and figured out you guys had a TS server and then asked another admin about the ban. He told me you gave it to me and I would have to talk to you. If I could get an explaination for that I would appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

P.S. The time/date of the incident was Oct. 19th around 11:15 pm. I was using the name Kinmaul.

Kinmaul,

Thank your for coming here and posting like an adult. :)

Yes, I just checked the logs and I gave you a day ban. Because I handed out quite a few tonight, I do not remember yours in particular. Please tell me what map we were playing as it may refresh my memory. :D

No matter what the case, please read the rules and pay attention when admins ask you to do something. :)

I have a feeling you were a snipor on Iwo Jima who was NOT giving arty calls for the battleship. I asked over and over for spots and none of our scouts would give a call. Therefore I started handing out temp bans to get peoples attention. We strive for teamwork on this server. :)

Your ban will expire tomorrow night. If you would like to get back on sooner then PM MMmmGood and he can lift your ban. :) Refer him to this thread so that he knows it is ok.

Have fun on the server! :)

It is unfortunate you were not on TS at the time so we could discuss this. Apparently this was not just a 10 minute ban, but a day ban.

I am really confused at to what was the reason behind my ban. I did nothing wrong that I was aware of, but I understand that you cant send warnings or whatever because of chat lag. If you could be on TS when you issuse kicks/bans matters and misunderstanding could be cleared up faster. I really dont understand how shelling an enemy base in a sherman tank is grounds for day long ban.

Ah it appears we replied at the same time. At the time of my ban I was in the middle of driving a tank on Iwo Jima and was in heated fighting. Either chat was lagged or I was too pre-occupied in the fighting to see the message.

When you are trying to run and gun in tank battles, its easy to not pay attention to chat. I was not purposely ignoring any request for artillery. Next time I will be on Teamspeak so this situation should not happen again.

Sorry that happened Kinmaul. :( I would not intentionally do that to you or anyone. :) Unfortunately, I can not determine if someone is in a tank. All I see is that they are scout and not giving calls. FYI, do not play scout on Omaha as Allies. I kick all but the top three on that map as Allies can't win with a team full of scouts. :)

I am usually on TS, tonight, however, I just needed some gaming without it. I am glad that you will be joining us on TS. Welcome aboard! :)

Another quick question I would like to add is what is a scout supposed to do when he is in the middle of driving a tank (or any vehicle) in a fight? I didnt see the call for a spotter, but even if I did I would not just hop of my tank in the middle of a fight only to die immediately. Also typing out a reply in a situation like that would take to much time and result in my death anyways.

I can understand your frustration in not getting a spotter (I have been in that situation many times before) but it could just be people are preoccupied at the moment and need some time to position themselves. If I recall correctly (and this may have changed or I could be wrong) but you lose the "scout view" when the scout is killed. If scouts are getting killed when trying to move into position to give you a spot then it isnt going to be possible for you get one.

My time on the server as best as I can remember went as follows.

*Spawned on the hill on Iwo Jima

*Sniped for a few minutes on the hill and after I saw we had taken the flags at the base I hopped in the tank that spawns on the hill and drove down.

*Pushed up towards the last enemy flag (Axis Airfield) in my tank and got into position to shell the planes with my sherman.

*Kicked and Banned. I was on the server for 5 to 10 minutes tops.

Like I said before I can understand your frustration in not getting a spotter, but also think of us poor scouts trying our best to get into position to spot you. From now on I will be on TS and will try and pay more attention to team chat.

Perhaps you had been calling for spots before I logged in and I just got the tail end of the wrath, heh. When I was kicked I swore someone must have gotten me confused with someone else because I really could not figure out what I did to deserve a ban. Well at least now I know and I guess I will see you guys tomorrow night at 11pm :P

Lol you answer my questions while I am posting them

Thanks for the advice on Omaha. I do usually pick a scout on that map just because its a good 'practice sniping' map. But again I agree, nothing gets me more aggrivated when as allies we are getting spanked on that map and I hit tab to see a whole team full of scouts. Heh, I just never had the ability to ban all of them

/me remembers to go assult on Omaha ;)

Oh I just saw that you gave the okay to get my ban lifted, I missed that before. Thanks bud!

Do not wory about jumping out of a tank to give a call, unless you can do it safely.

I had been calling the entire game and not getting any spots or useless ones. I know it takes people time to get in position, however, it has been my experieince over the last year that this is not the issue. The issues is that people think that they are l33t sN1p0rz and do not ever give calls. The camera dissappears when the scout respawns or when the pack dissappears, I forget which.

Yes, apparently you got the tail end. :( Anyway, being on TS will help greatly! :) However, keep in mind that on most maps scouts are not generally needed since we have TS. And sniporz are next to useless as they generally do not help cap flags but are just there to see what kind of personal score they can get. In my experience sniporz are NOT team players. There are exceptions of course. :) (eq Coral Sea, sniping AA gunners)
