Think I got banned from BF ECGN#1.
All I get is a ERROR message when I try
to connect to the server...
I had laid several mines on the bridge in TELEMARK
where the blue and red spawns are across
from each other. I put them down in defense
as I was the only one spawned at that time.
Then as I run back to take position 3 players
all run over the mines and suddenly I get booted.
The mines were in plain view and they didnt
even cover the entire bridge!
Thats my case if indeed I was banned but really
it was all by accident.
Could I please be unbanned from ECGN #1 server.
Thx.
(I got booted around 8pm EST 1-1-04)

You probably got kicked by the 'bot' for a -6 score (3 TKs). I feel your pain. A lot of engineers (myself included) are reluctant to lay down mines because idiots continually run over friendly mines. I'd suggest trying to connect in an hour or so.
I played with Kurlon for quite a few hours today and I can vouch for him not being a TK'er.

I played with him on Tobruk .. and the only thing that frustrated me about him was he wasn't on TS to listen .. had to chat (lag) to him
Though I can feel your pain about the bot kicking.. its one of the reasons that mines are hardly ever placed in well travelled ways. Because
s don't stop
However, the bot would only kick once, you should have been able to jump back in (if not full) .. unless you had been doing it a couple of times already that day :-/

I temp-banned you.
Laying mines there at the entrance of the bridge at the beginning of the game was not a very smooth move.
We could not assault the other side of the bridge because of your mines. Remember...the object is to cap flags and if you impede our vehicles getting to those flags, you are NOT helping the team.
I am glad you are getting TS, it will help greatly.
And, no, I do not mind letting you be unbanned since you pled your case maturely.

Thx Enjin for the unban.
Now that I look back you right
it was not the best move.
It was more of surprise that I spawned
at the flag alone and I wanted to buy some
time to get the Sherman.
I know those Axis bikes can zoom over
the bridge in a hurry. And trying to
keep them from swamping that spot or
worse taking the tank was overiding
the fact the mines dont help allies
advancement in that case.
Definitly a lesson learned and thx again.

Kurlon, I play engy a lot too and I've started using Det Packs in lieu of mines.
My thinking is:
1) they don't have to run directly over them - which means I can hide them out of view
2) I can detonate at my convenience - enemy vehicles/troops only
3) I can't get inadvertant TKs. If I TK with a det-pack it's my fault, not some mindless, apparently blind noob.

Detpacks have a time limit, and they blow up after awhile, no? So, you could accidentally kill someone. But it does sound much better than using land mines.

You're right, of course. I've blown myself up a number of times when I'm 'refreshing' the det-packs. I don't understand why they explode when they timeout. Why can't they just fizzle out without doing damage like the mines do?Originally posted by CapriccioSCOURG
