Help me!

Ok so I have been trying to play ET without any success for god knows what reason.
When I go into the ingame server list I get a very short list of servers which I can play on, that is I could if I had the maps anyway. If I try and manually input the ip of a server that is not on that list it crashes me out of my internet connection and I have to restart the computer to reconnect.
I have all seeing eye. This shows a much larger list of servers but if I try to refresh the list or join any of the servers it crashes me out of my internet connection and I have to restart the computer to reconnect.
I have (that is had anyway) xfire. This comes up with an even bigger list of servers but again if I try to refresh or jon one of the, i think potentially mythical, servers it crashes me out of my internet connection and I have to restart the computer to reconnect.
None of these programs are blocked by the firewall. In fact I turned the firewall off completely just to be sure. Same result. Yes I have the latest patch for ET so don't bother suggesting that, I am not a moron I am just not used to pcs. So those suggestions apart does anyone have any idea, and it doesn't matter how random, about what if anything I can do before I resort to kicking the shit out of this inferior in everyway but gaming piece of shit that I have inadvisably purchased:ar15:
Wolf works fine as does BF42. It's just ET that is being retarded

i didnt read your whole post because im lazy. maybe try downloading the updates for ET and installing them. 
ok i read that part. nevermind. its a sign telling you to go back to Mac cause this shit happens all the time on PC!

Pfft my mac is too slow anyway. It's damn slow for wolf, Et would kill it.
What do you mean am I connecting to servers with the patch. If I have installed the patch surely running the program automaticall runs the patch as it is a patch for the program...
