How do you move?

Tue Apr 08, 2003 9:38 pm

I was just interested which keys all of the RTCW players use to move around. I personally use the WASd keys because i find it very comfortable to have my hands evenly spaced out and to have the E and Q keys right ther (leaning keys).

I mostly use my mouse to aim, then my WASD keys to move, making my A and D keys strafing. I turn with the mouse and use my E and Q keys to lean. I also like this type of layout because i use the SHIFT key for sprint and this way i could put my pinkey on the shift key and i could easily move it down to the CTRL key so i could jump. The reload key (R) is also very close to me if i use the WASD way of moving and so is the T and Y keys for Team and Open chat.

What about the ever-wonderful spacebar?

I use Q to push (+salute). Z and X set up to lean, though it seems worthless in the fast-paced multiplayer environment. Use C to drop weapon. My controls otherwise are much like the default settings.

Plus, I bound = to tell people how stupid they are for tapping out when I have my medic needle right above them preparing to revive them. It does no real good, but makes me feel better when I get killed trying to revive someone who apparently doesn't want to be revived.

FYI: There's another thread about this somewhere, so be prepared to (maybe) have some humorous and not-so humorous barbs thrown at you.:D

I use a tactical keyboard, bought for like 25.00, from thrustmaster. All keys are arranged in circle around my left hand and the thumb is adjustable. right hand is for mouse- tilt of weapon and fire and jump. Bind the keys of tact. keyboard to whatever suits you. It does get hard to go back to regular keyboard, ie. -when you are at work!!

W A S D for forward, backward, left and right. Space bar to jump, right mouse button or C to crouch. I don't bother using strafe, I have enough to remember with the other keys.

Everything else is default.....

Giggles.

ahhh yes, i remember this topic...

im all about the wasd default like most.
aside from that...
i use space to drop weapon
f is push
m is /s_stop
i is playdead
and p is the almighty gib key!

ill spare you my settings for team chat and lsound keys.
...
one thing ive always wondered how does one set mouse1 to both fire weapon and open doors?

/bind mouse1 +fire; +activate??

anyone out there that has their mouse set up like that...let me know.

I find using WASD easier, since it has more buttons around it. When I tried using the arrows I never hit the button i wanted in time because of the huge space between the arrows and buttons around it
