When I read the back of my jewel case and it says M 17+ I just naturally assume that anyone 17 years of age or older can operate internet explorer and/or google.

Back in '01 when this game came out and everybody had a piece of shit computer like you, tweaking your config was the only way to get a decent/stable fps. The leagues all put restrictions on things like and picmip to keep everyone on a fairly level playing field, yet still allow them the ability to run the game smoothly since not everyone had the same hardware. People aren't just going to stop using their configs because some asshole on a forum doesn't think that turning off 10 year old textures (yeah, realism) to get 10 extra frames is fair.

Dial-up was the big thing back then so net settings were pretty relaxed too. Now, the only server left is compiled of players from multiple continents all playing against eachother. I don't know a whole lot about net tweaks but I'd bet that your statements are pretty far off. That being said, I'd be for making the net cvar restrictions a little bit tighter, but then again I don't really have a problem hitting anybody (at least not in the superheroesque ways that you've described).

I don't get how you can act all high and mighty about 'fairness' towards other players and at the same time constantly blame everyone else for your inability to kill someone. A person with real integrity would at the very least give everyone the benefit of the doubt with regards to hacking, but you can't even shut the fuck up about what the people whose asses you kiss set the legal boundaries for. I don't talk shit to people when I kill them unless I'm using my col wombat binds and even then those are supposed to entertain people by being flat out dumb.

No offense to anyone here but whoever thinks for a second that one persons cfg makes a differene in their skill level is retarded. RTCw is what 9 years old? not including demo? The graphics card I have right now is enough to play wolf 2 on the highests setting, so fucking what? I still play rtcw with r_uifullscreen 1 on assualt cause I dont wanna see the fog, and I still play rtcw with max fps 125, some of us have been playin this god damn game for 9 years and thats the reason for the skill level and if you dont believe it swap configs with that person and see if anything changes. Ill take that pepsi challenge any day of the week as long as I can change the keyboard controls of whatever config I get. The funny thing is when this game was in its prime there was players out there that would knock the socks off players that are considered high skilled today.

To all the normal forum visitors,
I'm fairly sure that noone is using a PC that is more ancient than mine, 886mhz (more than double required for the game). I've never had any problem with the game running smoothly, so I don't buy the reason for the tweaks "Because my comp was too slow".
People wanted the advantage, it was allowed so many did it. Not a big deal, I chose not to. And I think I've done fairly well over the years, better than most ppl with the tweaks and better than some with the hacks.
Idiots like the above come on here and tell me how much I suck at this game, problem is I've proved them wrong every fucking night for the last year at ECGN. I don't see tonight as being any different.
