Wewt! Does the demo have an MP component? If so, would ECGN consider changing #2 to host a temp. FC demo server?

dl'ed and played it last night. Its got some good eye candy when you crank everything up. The AI is pretty good even on easy. There are some nice physics too.
After saying that, I think that its smart that crytek is trying to get this game out before Doom III, stalker, and HL2. its a great game, but I just dont think it will compare with the others.

I personally think Far Cry is the best looking game I've ever played. I ran FarCry at 1024x768 ultra high textures and water (everything else at medium) and the game ran at 25-30fps on my FX 5950. The water effects are some of the best I've ever seen, they even top Halo's, and the environments really do a seamless transaction from indoor to outdoors with almost no load time. Lots of little details really add to the atmosphere, like old rusted Japanese tanks and planes hidden in various parts of the Island. There are also various exotic birds that fly about, schools of fishes, its all very surreal.
The AI is...iffy. Sometimes they'll do really intelligent things like using supressing fire while two or so other enemies flank you, and they also make pretty good use of the available cover (and there's alot!). That said, the AI is also pretty dumb at times as well. On more than one occasion I've witnessed an enamie AI toss a grenade while standing infront of an obstruction (a big tree for example), said grenade bounces back at the enemy AIs and blows up. The character models also kinda suck and lack any real imagination.
Overall though, I must say I like it. It won't be on my "OMFG I MUST HAVE IT NOW!!!" list, but it will be on my spring gaming buy list.

Most taxing game to date. The visuals are great. The AI is a little iffy like described above. They say some corny ass lines as they are shooting at you. I cranked the setting to the max and got some artifacts. I OC a little bit but not that much but still got some artifacts. Backed the OC back and turned down some of the detail. This game will start to push the top end cards. If HL2, Doom and any of the newer engine games are like this we are in for a treat in 2004.
