I think they just need to sweep the 5800 under the rug and move on. NVIDIA's 5200 and 5600 don't use that silly monster fan nor does the new 5900 (which is far superior to the 5800 anyway).
I'm very impressed with everything I've read about the 5900. It beats the 9800 in just about every way and is also very easily overclockable. However, I've also heard that you'll need to take out a second mortgage if you want one.
