Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

So who else is going to watch a 9 hour marathon of all 3 movies at their local movie theater.

I am purchasing each of the extended edition (EE) as they come out. Just watched the FOTR EE version again this weekend. These movies are really great and provide a nice escape.
I am looking forward to the EE of TTT and ROTK. I am a fan of the book and I think the pacing of the EE versions matches the book a little better.
Can't wait until all 3 EE's are out. Then you could watch approx. 10-11 hours straight. Don't know if I can sit that long, but I look forward to trying.

I will, if I can, but I'm sure I'll be fighting every crazy LOTR fanatic in the greater DC area for tickets...

Ditto that- I think I'll take the day off from work, pack a big ol' bowl (with backup, of course

), and make a day of it. Come on, if you are a fan at all you gotta be down with this! Not to mention we have a theater here with seats as comfy as a la-z-boy, so 9 hours aint gonna be that tough

Well, you better hope that they're not so comfortable that you'll fall asleep. But of course, I don't know how you could fall asleep in LOTR, well maybe the middle of the Two Towers...

Is this the one when Frodo finally becomes a Jedi Knight, only to fall to the dark side and become the Emperor's right hand man?

No, no, no, this is the one where Aragorn finds out that the life he's been living isn't real and that he is living inside a computer program. He enlists the help of the Jedi to defeat the dark lord sidious who holds the ring of power and is keeping people captive in the giant computer simulation.
I can see how you would get confused though.

I recently read on
http://www.Aintitcool.com that the runtime is set at 3.5 hours, give or take a couple of minutes. That means the extended version will be over 4 hours (woot)
by the way, here are walking directions to Mordor a la map quest

Well, I only found it a little boring the first time I saw it. Lord of the Rings is really one of those movies that just get better and better each time you see it. I also remembered that there was the warg sequence, which was badass.
