Teamspeak overlay

Sun Apr 18, 2004 10:39 pm

This is a cool program that lets you see who is talking on TS while in game, it's fairly unobtrusive, just shows the names on the left hand side of the screen, below the team chat. Finally a reason to shut down my laptop!!!!

Download link is around the middle of the page.....

Good find, Bossman. I'm going to give this a try.

I'm new to teamspeak so this will be good for figuring out who's who.

I was kicked from TS last night for having ecgn as my nickname. Oops, was just testing the thing out for the first time. :tard:

This looks really cool. Great find.

I tried to take a screen shot but for some reason the TSO text doesn't appear. To gt the program to work, first run TS, then start TSO, then get into the game. As residue found out last night, if you shut down TSo for some reason it also kills the game. Not sure why.

There is also an option in TSO to turn on/off the framerate info.

I personally think this is safe but just be aware of the tiny risk you take by using this with punkbuster enabled games.

"TSO works by overlaying a list of the current speakers into the games window, over the top of the game thats running. It does this by directly hooking the DirectX or OpenGL APIs.

Maybe I'll wait for you guinea pigs err guys to try this out for awhile before I run it online. :)

Great find though regardless.

I used it all night last night and had no PB problems

Looks neat. It should come in handy since I gave the laptop to my wife.

i tried the overlay last night and it has potential.

it is, however, alpha so expect problems.

i experienced significant framerate issues on battleaxe and was unable to launch bf using ase while tso was running. oddly enough, bossman did not have either of these problems.

I just ran it twice on the Wolf FH server and it seemed ok. I'll keep ya posted.

This is an excerpt from a post by the creator of TSO...very interesting.

[B]"
This leads me to believe that if a game hack was done in this way, it would completely circumvent Punkbusters detect mechanisms, and would therefore be allowed. This means Punkbuster does not do a good enough job of detecting what is a hack and what is not. If Punkbuster was good enough at doing this, it would see my modifications in memory, and reject that also."

The major game hacks are the ones that use pre-existing memory addresses that bf1942.exe calls for. It all comes down to enabling or disabling certain pre-built features. If this game had the netcode like unreal or half-life then I'd be worried about aimbots that used the general route the creator of TSO used (since he's only messing with the visual side). Those are pointless though since you have to lead targets based on ping, bullet velocity, trajectory etc. I think the key here is that this is an overlay feature that relies on directx . This isn't a modification of bf1942 memory addresses so we should be safe. (crosses fingers :) )

Make sure you disable voice activation and set it to "push-to-talk." That's probably what it was for. If they simply kicked you for signing on with an ECGN tag, then they should just be kicking Boisclair for signing on, period. :P

Has anyone got the overlay to work in BF:V?

Bump at a request.

BF'42 takes 3 times longer for the maps to load with TSO. Has anyone else noticed this?
