Does this mean something is wrong?

Tue Apr 20, 2004 11:16 pm

I noticed that when I look at my processer in device manager it shows two processors. Does this mean anything?

Hyper Threading?

Lucky guy. Someone broke into your home and installed a second processor in your PC.

LMAO.

You are enjoying the beauty of Hyper-Threading Ralph. Windows sees your processor as two procs, allowing it to be fed two sets of instructions simultaneously (or something similar).

Maybe I can get the same guy to visit my house :rotflmao:

Yes Ralph, it's very wrong. In fact I am so concerned about the stability of the system that I recommend you remove the CPU and send it to me. In return I will send you this very nifty Commodore 64 system to tide you over till I find out what's wrong with the chip. It might take a while so get comfy.

Damn Ralph, you're a lucky smacker, you got the new 3.4 P4s...

hmm, those are like, uber expensive right now. Wonder if ur just showing off... ;)

Not showing off, I didn't think about hyperthreading.

Should look at your other devices. Think your missing a driver or two.

3.4 = nice

I wonder if something is wrong with my pc:D

I noticed the yellow question marks. I can't tell what devices those are supposed to be but am open for suggestions. Anybody know what my "Multimedia Audio Controller" or my "SM Bus COntroller" are? Everything seems to be working fine and I can't think of anything important I didn't install.

Wed Apr 21, 2004 12:35 pm

The audio controller is either your onboard audio that hasn't been disabled in the bios or an incomplete driver install for your sound card. I'd bank on the onboard not being disabled.

The SM bus controller is related to an Intel chipset. You should be all set if you download and install your latest chipset drivers from Intel. What type and model motherboard do you have?

Camel....

There's something wrong with your PC where you're showing all those P4 3.4's while you're running an AMD 1.6.

coconut :tard:

Thanks Havoc. I'll check the onboard sound when I get home. I thought I had disabled that, but I'll check. It is the P4C-800 E Deluxe motherboard. I used the CD that came with it, but I didn't download updated drivers for it since it was working fine, but I will look into that too.
