With my limited knowledge of this stuff, I'll try to give you a hand.

As far as I know, it's more important whether or not the memory will work with your motherboard. If you have a 400 fsb, you really should get some DDR400. After my experience with the huge difference, I'd say it's worth springing for PC3200.

If your motherboard says you need pc2100, anything higher than that willwork also, but if it is 400Mhz you should get PC3200

Memory
Type: Dual Channel DDR 400 / 333 / 266 support

Max capacity: 4 GB (Please read FAQ for further information)

DIMM slots: 4

I highly suggest you get DDR400 to make the most of your new board.

In the manual it says it suppoers

4 184-pin DDR DIM sockets
Dual channel DDR400/DDR333/DDR266 DIMM
128MB/256MB/512MB/1GB unbuffered DRAM
Supports up to 4GB DRAM

and it says you have to install them in pairs (Banking like with SIMMs)

and the pairs have to be the same size and speed, aka 256MB PC3200 and a 128MB PC3200 will not work.

if you install 3 sticks of ram, your dual channel benifits will be lost, they have to be instaleld inpairs.

and if you install 4 ram stick, they all have to be the same size and speed or dual channel will not work

(
slot 1 -256MB PC3200\_channel B
slot 2 -256MB PC3200/
slot 3 -256MB PC3200\_channel A
slot 4 -256MB PC3200/
)

it also gives some complex charts that make sense sense whatsoever to me. but essentialy, it says

you want dual channel to work? you have to buy 4 ram sticks of the same speed and size.

And yes the manual says it supports DDR400 (PC3200)

if your buying a motherboard that supports the 800Mhz FSB you should have spent the extra money for a P4 with 800Mhz FSB, in my opinion. The boards are going to be more specialized to work with the 800Mhz better than the slower chips wth the 400Mhz
