pentium 4 fsb is multiplied by 4. 3dmark just reports the frquency. so if you have your fsb set to 176 in the bios, your actual fsb is 704.(stock would be 133X4=533) 3d mark is just going to report 176. I should also let you know that ddr frequencies are doubled.
your motherboard should have a fsb to memory ratio.
i think mine is set at 1:1. meaning 150:150. therefore my actual fsb is 600 and my memory is 300 because its ddr.
you probably already know that but i thought i would just get that out of the way. Also, 3d mark reads the fsb wrong on some systems. its a bug. It doesnt do it all of the time, just in rare cases.

does that help a little?

That helps but I have award bios, what kind of bios do you have, cause I can't change anything about my front side bus, I guess it changes automatically with my OC

i believe i have the same bios as you. and actually the only way you can overclock pentium 4s is through the fsb. the multiplier(18x for a 2.4b) is locked by intel. stock its 18x133.
when you increase the 133(your fsb frquency) you increase your overall processor speed. for example, if you increase your fsb to 140(actual would be 560), that would be 18X140 which gives you an overall processor speed of a little over 2.5 ghz.

I see, cause it lables it so it seems like your just messing with the multiplier and that the fsb is separate, thanks dogg, but hey if you have the same bios what mobo you using man?

well lots of mobos use the same brand of bios. my mobo is made by Ecs. the model # begins with L4....but i cant remmber the rest at the moment. It is a good stable board, but it sucks for overclocking.

I see, I'm running a gigabyte p4 titan 845E mobo, its great for overclocking so far. I oc'ed to 2.81ghz and my idle is now 24C with full load of 30 with that fan turned to inhale air, lol. Thanks edogg, always nice to talk computers with ya.
