I've actually considered doing this - buying a Turtle Beach card. How much can I expect to pay? Are these cards widely supported across all games? Do they have anything like the console that my Audigy 2 Platinum has?Originally posted by MMmmGood
I got real tired of Creative a long time ago. I bought a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and have been a happy camper since.

Link to the card I have. Runs everything great. I havent had a single problem wiht compability or any issues at all for that matter. Very satisfied.

From what I've read - that card doesn't appear to be DTS- andor THX-compatible (which Audigy 2 is). Can you expand on what I've read?Originally posted by MMmmGood

My z-680s support both DTS and THX. I don't want to take a step backwards in that regard.
I've never had two audio cards installed at once. Is it conceivable that I could use a Turtle Beach card for games and my Audigy 2 for movies, etc. Wouldn't this be a pain as far as sharing my speakers between two sound cards?

It turns out that toggling "off" Digital Output Only solved my problems. My speaker console still auto-detects Dolby Digital and/or DTS when I play movies but I can choose 6.1 Stereo for Battlefield 1942 and all the popping and directional issues disappear. Oddly enough, when I force my speakers to play digital audio while playing 1942, the sound output goes down and the directional audio isn't as fluid when an object is behind me.
