Has the world REALLY come to this?

It's kind of sad when you are checked out by the authorities after you request information on a computer game for a 10 yr old

apparantly you can no longer walk down a street carrying an almanac
that is just wrong:wall:

Are we overdoing it? Undoubtedly - but I'd rather see some of this then sticking our collective heads up our backsides and just waiting for the next attack.Originally posted by shockwave203

I'm sure a lot of this is CYA (cover your ass) actions since a breakdown of FBI, CIA, etc intelligence has been partially attributed to the 9/11 attacks.

Quoted from that bullshit rag, The Register... At one time it was rare to find US citizens, in the safest and most prosperous country in the world, jumping at their own shadows. Now we only note how high.
let me assure any non US people that read these forums that the above quote is a crock of shit. i live my life just as i had before 9/11, and so does everyone else i know. i'm sure there are some people in this country that are suffering from paranoia, but that's to be expected after a traumatic incident. i personally don't know anyone that is.

I don't doubt for a second that you act any different after 9/11, hell, I don't either. I'm sure most of the population isn't freaking out at shadows in the corners of our living rooms. However, our media and/or government, is certainly making a huge effort to scare the shit out of us. I'm not so sure that the government is actively doing that, but I have no doubt in my mind that our media is trying to scare us so that they can increase their ratings. Take local news, for example, look at all the stories they put on, and how hard they're trying to make you think you're in danger. It's kind of sad. Oh well, I'm done with this rant, I just got the urge to walk down the street with an almanac anyways...

I have to agree with you two. My life hasn't changed and I don't run around looking over my shoulder all the time. All that's changed for me is that now I know that we're a target. I was in an airplane as little as six weeks after 9/11. I'd hate to think that there are people out there that let that incident dictate how they live but you know they're out there. These are the same people that are deathly afraid of picking up germs from public places and therefore are self-imprisoned inside their own homes.

Oh shit the end is near

I now sleep with a nite light on, as the shadows are very scary.
