yes you are wrong.

Battlefield 1942 has had 4-5 patches already. It's almost platinum now.

Farcry is the most graphcially advanced game to be released yet. It taxes even the fastest video cards, and it looks unbelievable. I'm not even looking forward to HL2 anymore. Farcry has taken it's place.

Doesn't tax my 9600 Pro. The HL2 engine is far superior too.

Pretty unimpressed by FarCry. Good water rendering - that's about all it has as far as I'm concerned. The physics engine seems a bit fragile/flaky.

turn the settings up to 'very high' and run the game at 1280 X 1024, then tell me it doesn't tax your system

1) It was at high. My games always are.

2) I don't run 1280 x 1024. Hurts my eyes and there's no need to turn it that high.

3) HL2 will outperform the FC engine.

my point, is that the demo's just barely run smooth at 1280 X 1024 on 9800pro's, because the game has such good graphics. almost no one can use AA, because it causes too much of a slowdown. this is the only game I've seen that has been able to slow down the top cards, which is why I said it taxes today's fastest cards, because it does.

and yes, HL2 engine will outperform, assuming it will ever be released

last time i heard, the game was bumped back again, until august/september

*edit* and while we're on the topic of farcry, Ubi soft is releasing a THIRD Farcry demo on march 15 :D

Just because it runs slow does not mean that it has good graphics, or that it's even graphically advanced. It could just be written poorly or poorly optimized. Many, many games have been written that tax graphics cards for reasons other than great graphics <cough>Halo</cough>.

that's true, but when you run the demo, you can clearly see WHY the fps is on the lower side. Halo doesn't have any good graphics going for it, but farcry has the best I've seen so far.

What will make FarCry engine stand out from the other game engines such as HL2(source) is the sheer amount of foliage that it renders at any given time. The reason why it could be the most stressful on videocards is probably due to the high fillrate required (all of those plant and tree textures with hi-res alpha(transparency) enabled eat up your card's fillrate)

The major thing that will make HL2 renderer stand out imo, will be the sophisticated lighting that it uses (light gets reflected and refracted with more precision).

yes, but I said farcry is the most graphically advanced game SO FAR. HL2 won't be released for another half a year, farcry is being released this month.

What's HL2? You have all been duped. As I was with my recent Direct TV purchase.
