State of the union address, tonight 9PM, will you be watching?

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Russia is not a threat. China is not a threat. North Korea, please read about Kim Jong Ill he is starving his country and carrying on like a maniac. People in the US that are scared of North Korea are weak. Kim Jong is issuing a complicated propaganda campaing, he is using brinkmanship, threats, and extortion to get aid BBC News on North Korea. Its very complicated, but you and I have other things going on and cant be expected to follow all the current events. But politicians in North Korea have planned and anticpated our reactions, and are using them to win a campaign of nuclear blackmail. Dont believe me, read about it.

I really don't believe we're going to war with North Korea. Read the link I posted earlier about it.

all that im saying is that if things escalate to the point where we do take any military actions against north korea, i think China will definitely side with north korea. they really dont like us. Russia is a toss up. Also, maybe those countries individually arent a huge threat, but if they gang up on us they definitely become very strong. especially if we have to do it alone.

Wow. Putting 'Michael Moore' and 'facts' in the same sentence is a stretch. If anything it's completely laughable.
I'm a proud, responsible gun owner. I don't get an uncontrollable urge to kill when I'm around my guns (insert Bukkake joke). The way some of those gun-control wussies think, I should've killed my classmates back in school; Some tried to pick on me and my dad owned a couple of guns. Why didn't I kill them all?

The bigger issue: why can we not protect ourselves with guns, while those big names who preach against it have armed guards? $$$$$$ on a human life - I thought wussy liberals were suppose to "care" about the common people....

I'm former military (albeit Nat'l Guard - I still worked my ass off (field artillery - kick ass)). Never went to war. Clinton pissed us off royally. He was blatantly "Wag the Dog."
Having a Commander-in-Chief that actually RESPONDS to threats is what military personnel want. They don't want someone interested in making headlines over less desirable headlines.

It's too bad there are so many pussies living in the greatest country in the history of the world. No sense of history, duty, honor, or patriotism.
Everybody else gets a pass, but if the U.S. makes a mistake it's the new worst mistake ever. Forget about all the countless things done right.

If the draft were reinstated I doubt I'd be called up. But I'd go back to my old unit in a heartbeat. I'm not going to sit by while there's a draft and not put my experience to use. I would be leaving behind my wife, family and friends. It's called SACRIFICE. The pussies can run and hide all they want. At least there are still those of us willing to fight for your right to be an uninformed loser.

So, pussies...what do we do if a nuclear device detonates in one of our major cities? Consult France?

I probably made few friends with this post...too bad.

I agree that if we attacked N. Korea, China would likely back them. Heck N. Korea all by itself is a CONSIDERABLE threat on their own turf. We don't want to go to war with them and we don't have to because there are other options out there. From what I'm hearing there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes between the two Koreas and between us and China. China influences N. Korea's actions much the same way we influence S. Korea's. I think we and China can get something worked out wherein N. Korea is reined in a bit more. Bush knows how formidable N. Korea is and he's no fool. I think he'll exhaust every possible option before even thinking about war with them.

Well said Bukake.
There is this unreasonable idea that China would be an enemy of the United States if North Korea and the US engaged in war.
1. 1965-1975 Vietnam War: US supports anti-communist army of Vietnam, fights communists in North Vietnam, but China does not declare war on US. Fact of the matter: The Chinese like the US are essentially benign, they simply want to feed and take care of their population.
2. Does anyone know what China really cares about? 1. Right now the older generation of Communist Chinese are slowly relinquishing power to the more pragmatic younger generation. Right now China is committed to market economics, not hackneyed ideas like communism.
3. Russia is not a country that would attack the US or attempt to even side against us. Right now Russia is an oligarchy (a form of government in whch all power is vested in a ruling elite or clique), of mafia types. Politically the Russians are more concerned with assimilating into the EU, and for that reason their going to be as useless as France and Germany (ironically two countries that Americans sacrificed their lives for 58 years ago.). The reason Putin is an important factor in the dialogue between the US and Korea is because historically and geographically Russia and China have a lot in common.

Lastly, North Korea is not as much of a threat right now simply because the regime cannot feed its own people. Hundreds of thousands of North Koreans are starving because Kim Jong Ill would rather screw around with European prostitutes than address serious flaws in his nations terrorist form of government. But, should North Korea begin producing nuclear missles they would be a threat.

You guys don't like michael moore allister, then you still make no real point, seeing as how there is very little oppinion in the movie, just mainly others oppinions and fact, alot of fact that is interesting, and at the end you are left to decide what you think about the facts its not like he tells you what to think. either way I think you can't say that without having any weight in your statement, have you ever seen a michael moore movie or read a book of his?;)

I was not trying to make a point.. I have never read any of his books but I watched a show of his years back on television, forgot the name, it was okay, of course that was before I paid any attention to politics so I did not know any better. I have heard him on different radio shows and tv talk shows in the last two years and know enough about him that I have decided to never give him my time or my money as he is too far on the left for me. He is not in touch with reality.

I am in no way saying that you are wrong for watching him, that is your choice, I was just saying that most of the people that go and see a Michael Moore film probably lean toward the left.

If you enjoyed the film that is great.

Some interesting quotes:

"Never turn your back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never!"
-- Winston Churchill

"You can only protect your liberties in this world by protecting the other man's freedom. You can only be free if I am free."
-- Clarence Darrow (1920)

"One of the greatest delusions in the world is the hope that the evils in this world are to be cured by legislation."
-- Thomas Reed - (Speaker of the House of Representatives - 1886)

"War is an evil thing; but to submit to the dictation of other states is worse.... Freedom, if we hold fast to it, will ultimately restore our losses, but submission will mean permanent loss of all that we value.... To you who call yourselves men of peace, I say: You are not safe unless you have men of action on your side."
-- Thucydides - 413 B.C.

"I have named the destroyers of nations: comfort, plenty, and security--out of which grow a bored and slothful cynicism..."
-- John Steinbeck - "America and Americans" (1966)

Burningwich and El Cid, I agree with both of you.

North Korea is trying to blackmail us and the world, and scare the shit out of most people (seems to be working).

there is a very good chance of that happening in the not too too distant future.

Edogg, that will not happen any time soon, if it happens at all, North Korea is playing political games, they know we are busy with Iraq and they thought it was a good time to try to blackmail the world, it's all politics.
