Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Ralph, I think Renz may believe that the US did steal all of Frances wine, and whatever Belgium makes. He has to believe that to believe you were serious about the oil.

For what it's worth Renz, I'm sorry about the idiot comment. I should have taken the time to write a more thoughtful response, but I do try to get some work done while in the office so I just chose the quicker, less civil approach. By the way, good to hear that you are not one of the Walloons; there's hope for you yet.
The point of my reference to France and Belgium was that the United States has been involved in two wars in aid of those two counries before, and that we did not take their resources as you suggest we are planning to do in Iraq. The fact, and I think you will have to admit this, is that the United States, probably alone among the nations of the world, routinely uses its armed forces for other peoples' good and not for conquest.

Okay, maybe it's a cultural or language difference here. I would interpret your phrase from earlier to mean that you thought everyone was stupid compared to you. Obviously a very arrogant statement and one I would take exception to, if that was what you meant. I'm guessing that what you really meant was that people were just being ridiculous in what they were saying. Not that they were in fact stupid people. Correct?

Herr Renz,
-Have no problem with avitar, only your opinion, and that is fine because you are entitled to form your own ideas from whatever source you get your info. Every country is entited to freedom and the responsiblity for providing this basic human right lies with that countries head of state (king, prime minister,president,ect...). In the US it is George Bush's duty to provide this to HIS people.
-Every country has it's own agenda as it should be. Do not ask someone to provide protection thru a treaty if you will not provide the same in return. Gee I guess France, West Germany, and Belgium would have been a little pissed off if the former Soviet Union had attacked Europe, and we decided that we did not feel that US assistance was in our best economic interests and therefore refused to help. What your country and the other two mentioned are doing is the same thing, get off your high horse ( and American expression ). You need Iraqi oil. With the US boycott, France and Germany and any other country that wants to CAN sell arms, technology, and anything else to a country that has loads of MONEY.
-So do not feed us a load of shit about this war being about oil, if 3000 Belgium civilians were killed you would be singing a different tune. We will and do have the right (because we have THE MIGHT and real allies, you know the ones that stick with you when the going gets tough).
-I am not saying that we will bomb the crap out of anyone that messes with us,well I guess I am!
Thu Feb 20, 2003 8:30 pm
You mean to tell me, that France, Germany and Belgium are siding with Iraq, over oil..........NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.......Say it aint so, and here I was thinking these countries had higher moral standards than our own.

iraq even allows spy-planes to fly over them... they give away all their military information... in what way can they still do something? their's totally NO reasson to attack them...
*All he has to do is comply with resolution 1441, show us the weapons and chemicals that he says he destroyed and we will have no reason to attack. Spy planes won't matter at this point, he has had several years to hide everything.
and everywere in Africa you have murdering terrorists like saddam, but their's no oil there so... who cares?
*We were in Africa at one point, but we had a little situation and once again due to politics of a certain president who had no balls (well, he did have balls, and they were probably being sucked on at the time this happened) so instead of dealing with it like a true leader, he pulled the troops out. Watch "Black Hawk Down" for any info, it was pretty close to what really happened.
and in america, if your poor you can die on the street before the hospital because you have no insurance => that's bad...
*This is a statement I hear a lot from people in socialist countries...This is simply not true, while you might not get into the top of the line, state of the art, brand new building type hospital, you will get into a hospital that is still damn good compared to the rest of the world, and it will be free if you cant afford it, I know, my wife and I had to use one a couple of times when her kidneys failed and we were young and newly married. And By the way, hospitals can not turn you down if you have no insurance, they will take care of you and when you can be moved safely, they might move you over to another hospital.
they f*ck the "plan of kioto" and f*ck nature for profite => that's bad...
*I don't like this plan, it is unrealistic for the USA, it might work for smaller countries, but we are an industrialized nation and we can't get into "plans" that will hurt our economy by putting
unrealistic restrictions on companies, because when a business starts hurting, we the people are the first to get laid off. Now don't get me wrong, I don't want to destroy the environment at all, we just have to do things in a realistic way.
he makes americans hate the islam just because of some extremists => that's bad...
*Wrong, he does not make Americans hate islam, islam does a fine job of that on their own, when islam starts speaking out against this kind of terrorist behavior, maybe I would change my position on this religion, and not by them saying "terrorism is wrong, but because of your policies and Israel...", they always add a but in there and then try to justify the murders.
he spills tonns of money to warfare (more that in the cold war) while tonns of americans have no work => that's bad
*The warfare that you speak of was brought to us on 9/11/01, it was not created by President Bush just to have something to do, as soon as we take care of the terrorist and the nations that harbor them, the better off the world will be. As for Americans being out of work, the dot com failure was not his fault, nor were the acts of terrorism brought unto us, that is why americans are out of work. Stability in the world will help get people back to work.

Allister, do me a favor and post that Kurdish website here.....I would but sadly, I'm retarded........Maybe show Renz what Belgium is tolerating by helping to block our liberation.................Then again Belgium had its fair share of Genocidal maniacs- King Leopold and Rexist party leader Leon Degrelle
Thu Feb 20, 2003 10:04 pm
Well said Allister.
Thu Feb 20, 2003 10:15 pm
Very well said Allister.

I concur Allister. I was working on a point-by-point response myself, but I think you have hit them all. I was going to point out that, adjusted for inflation, the U.S. budget devoted to military spending is not at an all time high. Also, it is a smaller percentage of GDP than during the Cold War. Finally, I was going to make a sarcastic comment about the fact that our military spending includes a sizable amount that is spent for the benefit of certain allied countries who don't pull their own weight, but enjoy all of the benefits.
