Fed up with ATi

well.. im fed up with em.. time for an upgrade.

As stated in the sig, i have an AIW 8500 DV... only 64mb. Well, now i have money

and looking at the nex FX's. I want one with 256 mb Video Mem, but i just dont know which manufacture to choose.

I can pick up one for 187 bucks from Newegg.com, but is it quality? The most expensive FX with 256mb was $237 but im just not sure.

Anyone help?

Other stats are in the sig. AGP 8x is on the board i have, so i can run any card no prob.

Just hold up, and save yer pennies. Wait for the Geforce FX 5900 which is based on the NV35 chipset. Trust me on this one, as the ones inhouse from the NV31 have issues

Listen to Buli, once those Fx 5900's start shipping (and drop in price) it would completely own if you got one.

Yep, screw the current line of FXs...maybe not the 5800 but the 5900 is worth waiting for, hell, go for a Radeon 9800 Pro , those will kick ass too.

ATi is the main thing im trying to get away. The drivers are just... argh.

Ill have to take you advice on it then. Ill just wait. Any ETA on the shipping on those?

ATI.. i read an article that they "Tweaked" the benchmark to make their new card look better than it is Nvidia is also guilty of such a thing.. to me a card is a card i got a good deal on the Radeon so i bought it

The FX5900 (based on the new NV35 set) will be available in June. It has 256 MB video memory and is (will be) their top of the line screamer. They will then release a 5900 with only 128 MB about one month later as well as a more budget conscious nv35 based card.

Do NOT buy one of the NV30 based cards (5200, 5600, or 5800), they are overpriced and under perform. I'm a huge nVidia fan but they really botched the whole NV30 line.
