the Matrix has you! Well, at least your desktop anyway...

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

This is the distribution page for ZMatrix. ZMatrix is an animated desktop background which displays streaming characters in a style similar to what was used in the movie 'The Matrix'. The program was based off of source code for a screen saver found at http://www.elouai.com, and is entirely free. If you have problems with ZMatrix please review the help documentation that comes with the program, or visit the the help documentation online using the 'Help' link on the list to the left of this page. To submit bug reports, feature requests, etc. please use the appropriate sourceforge web interface, as listed below:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

My desktop with it running, you can adjust the size of the fonts, rate it scrolls down, have it work as your desktop background (yes it's animated background) or as a screen saver.

At less than 2MB download, it's damn worth it, and you get the Matrix font installed too. :D

The matrix letters are animated , it saves your original background too. Check it out!

I think it may be some kind of virus Agent; it seems to have made it look like you are listening to Boyz II Men.

I think I'm going to download it and use it as my screen saver when I get home.

I just downloaded it, I already use SETI for a screen saver but this is sweet for just wallpaper. Thanks Agent.

Does the SETI stuff cause any problems with games, etc., or does it only kick in when the computer is idle?

No problemo dude.

Yeah, what Ralph said, does it?

I run Folding@Home, that's the distributed computing thing where you're assigned a strain of protein that your system folds and it adds up to a bigger project elsewhere. There are millions of computers throughout the world that does this. I run it when I'm not using the comp, not letting those cpu cycles go to waste. :)

Ive never had any problems with SETI with games or otherwise. It only kicks in when your sitting idle. Of course you can set the time it takes to come on just like a normal screen saver. Heres a link to check it out.http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.html

Will I get any personal recognition if it's my computer that makes first contact?

I dont know about that but they periodically send emails telling you about their progress and any information that has been uncovered. They keep good records so its not entirely unfeasible that they would give you recognition for an ET signal.
Try it out, you can always un-install if you dont care for it. I just think that if your puter is gonna just sit there, it should be doing something useful.:D
