Is this a good monitor??

Postby shockwave203 » Tue Sep 23, 2003 2:12 pm

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/crt_e90fb.htm

A local retailer has this thing up for $369 CDN, and the picture on it is AWESOME!

I found it on several US websites selling for around $230 USD. $230 US is roughly $314 CDN, and with our 13% sales tax, the total it should come to is $354, so the price is pretty close to what it should be. I don't have a ton of money kicking around because of University tuition and I'm trying to save up for a newer car, so this monitor fits quite nicely into what I'd be willing to pay. I won't go higher than $400. I made that mistake buying this LCD with a SLLLLLOOOOWWW response time

Am I overpaying for this monitor? Should a get a better one?

Is this a good monitor?

I plan to use this monitor primarily for gaming, and I want to play games at 1280 X 1024, so the 80hz refresh rate seems acceptable to me.

Any good?

CNet.com gave it a fairly good rating - a 7.6 or "Good Value." You can check that here. They also list some vendors that might be offering cheaper prices, though I'm guessing they're US-based, so they might charge a bit more for shipping to Canada. Sounds like you got a good one.

:) My pleasure. I consult CNet almost always before making a significant electronics purchase, and have never been disappointed in their judgment.

i hope you didn't buy it yet. the best site i have found for monitors is Techonweb.com. that monitor is $181 US before shipping(which is probably about $30 US) don't know if they ship to Canada, but give it a shot. but if u choose the E90F(beige, not black) it's only around $170.

here's their link for that monitor: http://www.techonweb.com/shop/products/productdetails.aspx?id=844493

EDIT: out of stock, but there are others VERY similar to what u want. look at the other E90F models for close to the same price. also fixed a link.

thanks for the links horsepower, however I just checked, and they only ship inside the US. But thanks anyway

I think I'll go with purchasing it from a local retailer. No wait, no fuss or anything. It's easier, and the price isn't that bad.

Now....to look for a better desk!

Never ever ever buy somethign from the US if you are in Canada. You will be hit by HUGE taxes to get it past customs.

Also, good monitor that size:

I have the samsung there at number 1. It is very nice, and i highly recommend.

Also,t he G series for Viewsonic is bette rthan the E series. I think that is oen they sell at best buy. I got it on sale and hated it. Order this Samsung and have been happy since.
