Notetab Light:

A great free text editor with tabbed browsing for opening/editing many files at once.

It's not exactly in the same category but...

Google Toolbar:

AWESOME tool - includes the power of a Google search with the best popup blocking ever!

Trillian:

Chat program - combines all forms of chat (soon to inlcude Jabber) into one handy interface). The Pro version costs, but has some cool plugins.

This is an excellent thread guys. Let's try to keep this one going.

I wish I could add to it but most all the freeware I try out tends to plague my computer with spyware and other crap.

I'll definately try out the google tool. I need a good popup blocker.
