What is your degree and/or where are you working now?

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Yep - and the big problem is that learning a computer language does not mean you know how to program. Programming encompasses much more than just writing code. There are disciplines of logic and reasoning, and a healthy dose of psychology required to really be a good programmer and turn out usable products. Learning a syntax should not grant you the ability to advertise yourself as a programmer.

Very well said in your 1000th post. I've known several people who knew programming languages, but couldn't program to save their lives. It takes an intuitive nature, and IMO, it's something that cannot be taught.

While having attended college for a few years the only degree I ever got was the Third. :D

I have a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, from the University of Toronto, in the Great White North.

Been in the USA for the past 8 years, working at Volition (formerly Parallax Software, makers of Descent). The games I've worked on are: FreeSpace (PC), Red Faction (PS2) and Red Faction 2 (PS2). Currently brewing up something top secret.

So now you know what that [V] stood for... and it wasn't VANILLA ICE! :)

I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in reading K12 and Math K-12, I am currently a substitute teacher working in Three school districts in two states. before that I was in Construction working for the City of Lewiston for 7 years in road maitenance, other jobs range from cook to building contractor with logging, Theatre lighting and set design thrown in for fun. spent 9 years in the national guard and passed up the opportunity to be trained in computer systems analasys because the recruiter thought it was a dead end job because computers wouldn't last. lol what a dumb ass I was to listen to him.
