New Computer for me!
Thanks to Bullhead and everyone else who contributed to my IRQ problem thread, but all of that didn't help my issues, so I finally broke down and upgraded my computer...
Here's the specs:
AMD athlon64 3000+
MSI K8T neo (via chipset) mobo
1GB kingston ddr333 mem (same as before)
Radeon 9800pro
Audigy2ZS soundcard
WindozeXP
This new machine flat out FLIES! Was testing it out a little bit last night, on Midway... not that big of a test, since I don't recall any previous problems on it, but still, my fps never dropped below about 150(!) and away from the action it was indicating 260... my old machine rarely got above 60 in even moderate action on just about any map... and worse than that for mods and such...
So, I think my stuttering problems are finally gone!

Nice... is it too late to go with DDR-400 instead though? The A64 are memory bandwidth hoggers...
BTW, do u have a set of 5.1 or even 7.1 speakers to go with that Audigy 2ZS? Trust me, Battlefield or any of the new games are awesome with a 5.1 speaker system at the most, go with something THX certified to match the sound card's THX certification.
Since ur at it, might as well get a decent speaker system.
Buy now, cry later...(over the bills haha)

I mostly use headphones, and recently got a set of plantronics audio90s... altho, I'm a little pissed, since I found that zalman recently released a set of 5.1 capable phones... three jacks and all... *sigh*
The speakers I have are 5.1, but not THX...
As far as memory, it seems to have gone up in price recently, so I'll leave that to a future upgrade if I want to...

I have those Zalman surround sound headphones and even though they do a great job trying to emulate a surround sound setup, I have trouble judging some of the sounds coming out of the rear channel at times. Also, they are fairly bulky so I'm not sure how comfortable you'd be with wearing them for long periods.
Wait a sec, I just realized I'm completely screwed now.
First you got a new joystick and now a new PC. The skies are now more dangerous...

I wish you had uprgraded sooner. During the construction of my new computer I accidentally bought a gig of Corsair "registered" memory. It wouldn't work with my mobo, but it is suppsoed to be the shiznit for the AMD 64. I ended up selling it on eBay and only taking about an $80 bath on it. I'm sure I could have juiced you for more.

Negative. THX is nothing, really. Basicly, you are payign extra just for THX badge. The main thing with THX certified equipment is that the crossover is set at 80. It really is not that big od a deal at all, and one of the biggest gimmicks in home theater. Most stereo/home theater equipment not only meets THX specs, but exceeds it.

Actually, people are still not in REAL trouble, since I still have about an 80-100 ping...
Now if I had Buli's ping![]()

Oh hell I forgot about that. Ok if I see a thread from you with the title "I moved to the east coast" I think I'll have to call it quits.

Yeah, it's kinda scary that Rule of Wrist has such a legendary reputation in the air. and it turns out he was doing it with a POS machine and a bad ping.
