Sorry, just don't have any respect for the guy. I don't think he did all that much good for the world, he was a junkie who played some lousy music that just happened to catch on. I don't understand why people adulate this guy, who's song content was nebulous at best. Not to mention, he took the coward's way out of life, ultimately depriving his daughter of the priveledge of growing up with a father. Not an upstanding human being, in my opinion, and I think that there are tens of thousands of people whose lives were a million times harder than his ever was; have persevered, and prospered as well, and had the wearwithall not to put a shotgun to their heads and pull the trigger.

Yeah, his music wasn't all that great and he spearheaded the awful era of "grunge" music which still lingers on today. I was watching one of those shows on MTV, and this guy said the stupidest thing by saying that his parents' generation had the Kennedy assasination while his generation had Kurt's suicide. How the Hell can you compare the two?? Dam kids these days.

lousy music? that's your opinion, not everyone will share that.
I grew up as a 90s alternative/grunge child. nirvana, soundgarden, alice in chains, mad season, temple of the dog, stp, pearl jam. That era of my life along with the songs will always be with me.

Pearl Jam and Soundgarden were good but the rest sounded mediocre at best.

I love all those bands as well. Compared to the crap that's being put out today, those bands almost seem as if they're Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart.

Man I love AIC and STP, Had an awesome concert in Hawaii with Hammerhead, STP, Violet Fems and 2 other top groups. Big Melee was the concert man.

I've seen STP twice and they have not disappointed me. I'm actually really interested to see what's going to come of Velvet Revolver...

I saw STP back in 94, not a bad show for $0.
I also have high hopes for Velvet Revolver, heard the other day that Wayland got permission from his parole officer to tour (another upstanding citizen
). Just wish I could have seen GnR in their prime.

I'd have to say out of all the bands out of the grunge era, Alice in Chains and Mad Season were by far my favorite...
i found Layne Staley's death more of a tragedy than Cobains... All the AIC fans knew that his death was imminent... heroin would take his life. A few months before Cobain blew his brains out, he OD'd on pills and alcohol. We could see it coming and i dont think too many people cared.
My opinion, and its just MY OPINION.... Nirvana was given more credit for the appearence of grunge than they should've had. Thats the direction the music was headed... then followed up with the whole god-awful boy-band era...
