I'll take my chances with SP 2. Most of those programs are either games or niche Apps.
I deal with a decent sized clientelle. I tell them to keep things simple, and not stray too far from center as far as applications they run. Most clients run what I run, and vica versa. Any specialty app or legacy program obviously has to be dealt with differently, but this is often the sign of a poorly written or out-dated application.
There are always going to be exceptions, but I stress education and knowledge as a weapon against problems like spyware and viruses. If the clients don't listen, they usually have the same problems within weeks.
Those clients who listen and understand are customers I like to hang onto. The other ones are a constant source of problems, ands will probably go through many consultants and never have a decent running system.
That being said, that Microsoft article is indeed interesting, but not surprising.

I went ahead and downloaded the serveice pack 2, i guess the main feature is the security center. the problem is i run mcaffee software as my firewall and whatnot and its rather simple to use. when i restarted my computer it asked me which one to use, i chose mcaffee, but let me get yall's opinion on it. should i try out this new security center by xp, or stick with mcaffee

Rather strange how every version of ZA is on the list of non working programs, along with black ice and norton firewall. Looks like the only major one out there thats not listed is Kerio and Mcafee. M$ trying to stick to you again " use our $ht.

Funny how Linux and Macintosh both have firewalls, but you don't see people bashing them for taking other people's jobs away from them.

lol, yeah I think a perfect example is that stupid playskool interface that XP has now, Apple ditched it after the release of the G4

Here's a question, how much more secure could windows be if they adopted the unix filesystem (user, owner,executable privelages,etc). I know Windows has Admin mode, but it's not the same.
I think Windows security would get a huge security boost with a unix type filesystem of ownership and privileges. Wouldn't fix everything, but it would help.
