Ok guys help out here (Arkaine's Hub)
My wife and I play on this sever quite a bit and something happend yesturday that caused us to get banned. We do own three versions of RTCW and like to play on the same servers sometimes. With the kids amd multiple installs some may (we all have our own machines 3 ) have ended up with matching keys but normally we don't worry about it. Yesturday the kids and my wife Arkaine where on at the same time and someone was playing as the Medic@War which is me.,but I think one of the kids was on playing without changing the names. Now we are banned and my wife who plays here all the time can't play. PLEASE FIX it as we do own three copies so we may have had installed one with the same key. This has upset my wife to tears.. Yes tears I know it sounds silly but this is the oly server she plays on and now she can't, who ever put the ban on us could you please remove it I can pm you the cd keys but I know its a server ban not rtcw or punk buster ban we will not allow the kids to play on the server at the same time and have tried re-install the versions on all three machines with each key being different. My wife said she just won't play any more which is silly based on the fact that she was banned for an error on our part.
I think I understood your message. I'm going to try to translate, so correct me if I'm wrong:
You have 3 machines and 3 unique, legal copies of RTCW. You think when all three were installed they each got their own, different CD keys - but you're not sure. The other day two machines were on ECG 24/7 Beach at the same time and you both were booted off. Now you can't get back on due to a duplicate CD key error.
Am I right?
If so, then this is a Punkbuster problem, not ECG's. Punkbuster watches for duplicate CD keys and gives the boot if any are found.
I suggest uninstalling RTCW on all three machines, and reinstalling the 3 different copies, taking extra care to make sure each has it's own, unique, legal CD key that was included in the manufacturer's packaging.
Don't try to find an illegal CD key off the internet. That's a sure fire way to get booted.

I tried this morning uninstalling and reinstalling all of them. Each one is legally bought and paid. Only problem we had was before I bought the 3rd one almost 2 weeks ago we couldn't remember which key was on which machine so if my husband and I were on the same server it kicked us both saying duplicate CD-key. I have been told that one of the guid numbers has been permanently banned for TK'ing (which I'm sure must have been one of my sons) but that guid number just so happens to be on a list of a guess you would say hijacked CD-keys.
We have never used a key generator to find a CD-key off the internet. All I know is I was playing yesterday, my kids got on too (big mistake letting the youngest one play), we played maybe 10 minutes game finished then wammy all 3 machines said Banned Shared Key. No matter I've done my best to fix things but to no avail.
Thanks for all the advice and help, it's very much appreciated.

No Yooper, you are not right. Prior to the ban, Medic@war was kicked by pb for duplicate cd key, but was able to rejoin later. When he got back on the server, he was permbanned by Keek, using the !ban function, with the reason being "shared cd" or something like that. I was there, and was actually pretty confused as to why he was banned. Still am, actually
P.S. Arkaine- I hope once this is fixed, you don't quit playing Wolf entirely =/ Don't let one bad experience ruin a kickass game for you.

When I get around to making a simple set of 'Beach Rules' (ugh) I'm going to include something about the fact that we have people out there who are using stolen/shared/created/whatever guid keys.
It really sucks that innocent people have to get sucked into situations like this.
However, to detail a point, Nofx, the player known as 'Medic@War' has been temp-banned several times for bleeding/tk'ing. I watched the guy tk 4 people on purpose before I got kicked with them on a low neg. I checked the guid key and discovered, low and behold, it was the same on that Ticks was using the other day. How strange. Anyway, my position has to be clear on this. Blatant tk'ing (regardless if it's a 3yr old or not--don't let them play on-line on a ff on server--not that what I saw looked like a 3yr old in action, by the by), and a known guid key that's being shared results in a hard look and a hard decision.
Check it out for yourself. Don't take my word for it

If he was tk'ing then you're right, he should be banned.
Onto the more interesting issue...I'm a little confused about the GUID stuff. I typed in 783be7d5, and I looked through the list of aliases, but didn't see "Medic@war" on the list (I skimmed it real quick, if I'm wrong, correct me). Does it take a while for an alias to show up or something?
I searched for the name "Medic@war" and the only GUID it came up with was a key with only 3 names on it: Medic@war, Arkaine, and DWplayer (not sure who that is).
Basically, I don't see the alias Medic@war on the list of aliases for 783be7d5. Am I supposed to be looking for another name or something?

anyone have a theory on this?
basically what nofx said. I searched through that link keek gave and I found that medi@war was under arkaine's aliases, there were no ticks. The guid that keek listed doesnt have medi@war anywhere. It does have ticks in there, but I have a feeling that particular guid was just purposely copying his name.
