Link no workie for me. But I have seen the gunship up close and have seen many videos made by the crew, most recently of a friends rotation "over there". 3 guns and boy they make a racket down here when they hit the firing range...

One night, I actually got to see one of these in action over Ft. Chaffee, AR. All I could hear was the AC-130 and its guns, could see tracers coming from it; really f-ing cool, almost mesmerizing.

Was also fun to watch A-10s firing their 30mm cannons at dirt airstrip (only about 2-3 miles from where I grew up). Would sit on a hill and watch the display. Awesome shit.

Definitely amazing. Sometimes, when sitting on my dad's porch, the A-10s' cannons sounded like big farts coming from the hills! And they have the coolest sounding engines, they almost sound alive.

I forgot to mention all the helicopters, F-4s, F-16s, regular C-130s, and occasional B-52s that were always flying around, too. Sometimes at only maybe 100ft-200ft or so above treetop level (over the house!).

Was a very interesting place to grow up.:D

Been around the military most of my life as well... One of my earliest memories is being carried along an airstrip at Hill AFB and seeing the F4s with the shark teeth painted on the nose, was night time. Honestly wish I had a pic of that moment...

The AC-130 gunships down here are up and about around here regularly. Hearing the "little guns" is just like hearing that long meaty fart from above... The Big one is very reminiscent of a brief thunder roll.

You know that pic posted higher in this forum, i thought those were missiles coming out of the gunship, they're just flares to ward off heat seaking missiles.
