Ram Heatsinks help

Postby (>Tool<) » Tue Feb 25, 2003 3:03 pm

anyone know of a good site to order ram heatsinks from. I'm sorta looking for Thermaltake brand, I know they make aluminum ones but I can't find the aluminum only copper. I think copper is less effective in cooling then the aluminum. So all in all, which is most effective and where could I get it. If you don't know then please alteast look at the Thermaltake memory cooler on http://www.11cb.com and tell me what you think. I will go with the coolers on 11cb if I can't find aluminum ones. Thanks in advance.........;)

sorry Tool, but I will have to disagree with you on the aluminum idea.. Copper has been used in heatsink cooling for quite a while now, and has consistantly shown that it has better cooling properties than aluminum. Hense all of the super polished copper cpu heatsinks that are out.. this may also be an indication as to why you cannot find an aluminum set. The copper has a higher conductive state making it draw and dissipate (sp?) energy better. I did take a look at what you are looking at on the 11cb website, and would run with those.. they look purdy cool.. (no pun intended)..

Although I have yet to have a need to cool my RAM.. sure wouldn't hurt I guess.. :D

Hey thanks alot man, I guess I was thinking aluminum cases tend to run a bit cooler then steel cases as far as towers go. Thats exactly what I wanted someone to tell me, thanks. :D
