Hi!

Hi ECGN folks!

I've been playing here for quite some time and really enjoy the folks that hang out on the server. Squirrel and Parrot in particular.

:violin: I have a teenie, tiny suggestion if I may. I was on the server today and the teams were very unbalanced. In fact, the game ended with allies all skulled except for 1 or 2. I know this isn't unusual by any means, so I called a shuffle vote. Immediately after that an admin canceled the vote. When I asked why I was told that the teams were fine.

Look, this is your server and who am I to complain? How you run it is certainly entirely up to you. But it seems rather unfair to me to cancel a shuffle vote simply because you think the teams are fair. I waited until the game ended and called before the next game which I feel is the right time to do it. If I (or anyone else) had called repeatedly a vote then I would understand. But why not allow a between games shuffle vote? Whether or not it passes is not always important. It serves as a democratic way to resolve an issue and I am very glad to have that opportunity. If the votes are to be canceled then why have them at all?

Anyway, thanks for the priviledge to play on your server and I look forward to many more merrier games. :D

yeah teams quite often become very uneven. Best to just drop to spec. till you can either join the better team or conditions improve.

Hey Splat. ;)

Admins will almost always cancel a vote -- nine times out of ten, the vote is to kick someone, and for weak reasons. If an Admin is online, we'd rather people send us a private message and let us know if a player is TK'ing or whatever so we can drop into spec, watch them, and warn, !kick or !ban as necessary. The vote option is there to deal with jackasses when an Admin isn't online.

Some admins are more willing to shuffle than others. In my short time as an Admin, I have yet to force a shuffle, since it's been my experience that with all the players that come on and off the server, teams even out pretty quickly. I can't tell you how many rounds I've played where my team has dominated the other side, the sides switch, and suddenly we're the ones getting owned. Besides, what's wrong with a challenge now and then? Getting your ass handed to you a few times is how you learn to play better/smarter.

Speaking just for myself, I'd have to see several rounds in a row of completely uneven action before I'd shuffle.

Ahoy hoy splat.

Tricky one this. I tend to cancel most votes cos the process annoys me. As for uneven teams I will look to do a shuffle at the end of the round if they are really ridiculous but otherwise I tend to leave well alone. The trouble is sometimes the teams deserve to be stacked such as when the team has had a rough run themselves but suddenly get dominant, then I tend to let them have their bit of fun. Most of the time things seem to fix themselves anyway and the shuflle just pisses off clanners who want to play on the same team.

Anyways pming an admin is probabbly more likely to get a shuffle than a vote :)

welcome to the boards! and yea teams get screwed alot i usually just wait it out. calling votes only causes trouble..

Thu Dec 30, 2004 11:13 pm

welcome, votes are for when admins aren't on, a shuffle can only happen after the round has ended, shuffle causes havoc to server in the round, I always shuffle if after 2 rounds i see the other team is really kicking ass, we will always cancel votes when we are on thats what the /m feature in game is, but like I said welcome
