US MILITARY ACTION IN IRAQ Y or N?
These are some national polls for some of the pro war advocates. We are by no means alone!

A Letter to the London Observer

I'm really excited by George Bush's latest reason for bombing Iraq. He's running out of patience. And so am I! For some time now l've been really pissed off with Mr Johnson, who lives a couple of doors down the street. Well, him and Mr Patel, who runs the health food shop. They both give me
queer looks, and I'm sure Mr Johnson is planning something nasty for me, but so far I haven't been able to discover what. I've been round to his place a few times to see what he's up to, but he's got everything well hidden. That's how devious he is. As for Mr patelo don't ask me how I know, I just know
- from very good sources - that he is, in reality, a Mass Murderer. I have leafleted the street telling them that if we don't act first, he'll pick us off one by one.
Some of my neighbours say, if I've got proof, why don't I go to the police? But that's simply ridiculous. The police will say that they need evidence of a crime with which to charge my neighbours. They'll come up with endless red tape and quibbling about the rights and wrongs of a pre-emptive strike and all the while Mr Johnson will be finalising his plans to do terrible things to me, while Mr patel will be secretly murdering people.
Since I'm the only one in the street with a decent range of automatic firearms, I reckon it's up to me to keep the peace. But until recently that's been a little difficult. NOW, however, George W. Bush has made it clear that all I need to do is run out of patience, and then I can wade in and do whatever I want!
And let's face it, Mr Bush's carefully thought-out policy towards Iraq is the only way to bring about international peace and security. The one certain way to stop Muslim fundamentalist suicide bombers targeting the US or the UK is to bomb a few Muslim countries that have never threatened us.
That's why I want to blow up Mr Johnson's garage and kill his wife and children. Strike first! That'll teach him a lesson. Then he'll leave us in peace and stop peering at me in that totally unacceptable way.
Mr Bush makes it clear that all he needs to know before bombing Iraq is that Saddam is a really nasty man and that he has weapons of mass destruction even if no one can find them. I'm certain I've just as much justification for killing Mr Johnson's wife and children as Mr Bush has for bombing Iraq.
Mr Bush's long-term aim is to make the world a safer place by eliminating 'rogue states' and 'terrorism' . It's such a clever long-term aim because how can you ever know when you've achieved it?
How will Mr Bush know when he's wiped out all terrorists? When every single terrorist is dead? But then a terrorist is only a terrorist once he's committed an act of terror.
What about would-be terrorists? These are the ones you really want to eliminate. Since most of the known terrorists, being suicide bombers have already eliminated themselves.
Perhaps Mr Bush needs to wipe out everyone. Who could possibly be a future terrorist? Maybe he can't be sure he's achieved his objective until every Muslim fundamentalist is dead? But then some moderate Muslims might convert to
fundamentalism. Maybe the only really safe thing to do would be for Mr Bush to eliminate all Muslims?
It's the same in my street. Mr Johnson and Mr Patel are just the tip of the iceberg. There are dozens of other people in the street who I don't like and who - quite frankly - look at me in odd ways. NO one will bereally safe until I've wiped them all out. My wife says I might be going too far but I tell her I'm simply using the same logic as the President of the United States. That shuts her up.
Like Mr Bush, I've run out of patience, and if that's a good enough reason for the president, it's good enough for me. I'm going to give the whole street two weeks - no, 10 days - to come out in the open and hand over all aliens and
interplanetary hijackers, galactic outlaws and interstellar terrorist masterminds, and if they don't hand them over nicely and say 'Thank you' , I'm going to bomb the entire street to kingdom come.
It's just as sane as what George W. Bush is proposing - and, in contrast to what he's intending, my policy will destroy only one street.

From the headlines: "Iraqi foreign minister responds by saying Bush should leave office instead".
Hehe. Funny.
Maybe a compromise to the whole situation would be for both to get up and leave.

"Well, we're not just gonna let you walk out of here."
"Who's we sucka!?"
"Smith and Wesson and me."

Floppy..problem with statements like the one you quoted, they are wrong in a very basic way..Saddam HAS WMD, he's even admitted to it, UN inspectors have found evidence of it, etc, it's not a point in contention actually, just one the anti-military action groups like to use.
Funny, but the anti-military groups all use arguements based on facts they ignore have already been established as true.

The enemy is attacking, let us prey.

Well, it looks like my goverment has officially stated now that Canada will under no circumstances participate in the war. The only help being issued is allowing US planes and ships to refuel at Canada's east-coat ports and military bases.
Of course, the government could-flip-flop on the issue like they have several times already. Bloody Jean Chretien, the whole country is counting the days until your last in office.

Damn him, he was an idiot for years, and only in his last days in office does he make me proud of him.

While comments like america-light don't bother me, I don't understand them either. How is Canada, or any other major first world nation,ie UK, France, a light version of the US?
We have the same amount of freedoms as you, the same amount for rights, the same natural resources, and the same amount of lesser concerns like amenities and personal luxuries. Where exactly do we and other countries become "light"?

Truthfully, do you feel your nation and the others you have mentioned compare to the USA. I'm not only speaking militarily, I'm talking financially also. The reason your country and countries like France are not backing the USA, isnt because your of higher values or for peace, shit I think your Gov's know damn well Iraq has to be taking care of, I think its because your shit scared of the fact that we are so powerful.
I firmly believe this socalled stance by certain Nations is a way of trying to keep us in check, not to let us throw our weight around.
Presidents like Clinton fell into this idea, that the USA shouldnt stand out (unless it was to cover up the blowjobs he was getting), thats why he basically dismantled our agencies such as CIA and FBI, not to mention cutting our defense and subjecting us to nothing more than police actions, allowing our imigration to get so out of hand just so the Democrats could get a few more votes and left us vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
Listen, I'm not trying to diss Canada and I'm sorry for making a comment that was uncalled for, but I'm sick and tired of our socalled friends bashing the very nation that allows you to have the freedom you enjoy.(if you doubt that last statement, then your not being honest with yourself) We will win in Iraq, you will see the people dancing for joy, you will see the WMD and everyone will fall back into our corner.
If not who cares:D

...
Maybe your right. We are scared of the US , because they can break every rule there is, just to achieve their goals. And they can do it unpunished-> who will tell them what to do? Proof all over: They wanna attack Iraq, so they just break with the UN rules. And countries who dont listen to the US, are being dishonored, like France at the moment.

Don't worry about your comment Bukk, I know it was in jest.
But yes, I do feel Canada compares, and equals, the US in terms of how "great" each country is. Of course we can't mach the US financially, we only have 30 million people up here, we don't generate as much cashflow as 300 million. But I love living here, I wouldn't live in any other country, US or otherwise, if someone paid me to do so. And I know you feel the same about the US.
But with the current war sitution, it's unfortunate that a lot of US citizens are slagging countries and governments that don't agree with their stance on Iraq. And it's just that, the goverment dictates what the entire country does; in matters like these, citizens have very little say. I don't hate France because their not assisting in the war effort. I know that's simply the goverments view and that the general population are probably a nice bunch of folks that'll be cheering on the US troops when they get into some action. It's the same with my country, we've always been allies and I hope we'll always continue to be. Our governments may disagree on this issue, but that's just the way of things.
