I use $14.95 Logitech optical mouse. I tried some of the gaming mice, and I found the cheap, light weight ones are the best.

I use about 1.3-4 on average, usually 1.2-1.5 with fullscreen and on weekdays for windowed... 1.6-1.9 sens. I'm running a logitech mx518 with tephlon feet and icemat.
I would like to get a razer in the future. but atm waiting on my first headset... steelsound 5hv2.

and @ 1600dpi with almost 0 windows sensitivity

I'm not interested in tips or what you use.

I'm interested in your opinion about whether it should
be limited or not and why.

Sorry for the tone, i don't mean it in a bad way...

Tue Dec 05, 2006 5:56 pm

No it shouldn't be limited, not all mice have the same 'responsiveness'

Tue Dec 05, 2006 6:59 pm

Besides the advantages of using high sens are pretty much balanced out by the disadvantages. Try it out and you'll see that.

Tue Dec 05, 2006 10:30 pm

I have tried it out. What you'll find, is that people who have mastered either an extremely high or an extremely low sensitivity have an advantage.

A range of 10 should be enough to compensate for the differences in hardware responsiveness.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments thusfar, i realize I come across pretty brusk in type, it's not my intent.

Mastering a sensitivity?

You mean getting good at the game?

Yeah exactly you can't penalise people for being good. If you capped the sensitivity it would benefit the people that have mastered default sensitivity. Different styles suit different people.

Back in the day I used all defaults. Graphics .. everything. Then I started changing everything and got worse and said screw it. :D

this is a good place to start, make sure a 180* turn is about moving your mouse 20cm.

my 180 is like umm higher then 28cm (i cant do a full 180* on my mousepad)

but i like low sensitivity, easy to keep it steady and smooth, you shouldn't have to flick like crazy to get shots.

If you think this is about penalizing people for being good, then you're way off the mark.

It's about limiting a cvar. Lots of them are limited already, why? because they give an unfair advantage. It's the same thing.

*side note* Parrot, your avatar/signature really really lags the forum, I can hardly read the threads you post in.

You're just making a very uneducated post then...

The other cvar's are limited because if they didn't, people could see through walls, bob-through floors (cg_bobup -1) do that in an empty server and see what happens...

Limiting a sensitivity is just stupid.

Sensitivity has never been restricted in any game...m_pitch has but even now that's been unrestricted because you can do things with your mouse-drivers and software.

If I want to play with 30 sensntiviity and get good at it, props to me....or if I want to play with 1.0 sensitivity and get good at it...it should make no different. There's pros and cons to choosing a high and low sensitivity. Poeple who are great at this game find a decent median between the two.

No, it's not an uneducated post.

Thanks for your opinion though.

Our opinions differ as i guess i'm somewhat of a purist and you prefer to tweak, we'll leave it at that.

Adjusting a sensitivity is not a tweak...

It's just like changing your bindings.

I don't use the standard WSDA, instead I use EDSF.
I don't consider that being a tweak, but adjusting the controls so I can play the game better. Yes, adjusting your game r_overbrightbits to make the game brighter to see the players better...now that's a more reasonable argument. But you're talking about sensitivity.

Purist? Come on now, you're just bein crazy.
