Hello,

The best players the game has seen played mainly in 2002 and 2003. I certainly don't think anyone on ECGN deserves a title as ludicrous as the best player ever even if it was rational to say who the best individual is in a TEAM game (which it isn't).

I've played Wolf since the beach test days and have seen this game evolving through all stages, whether by playing or watching demos. Most of the players named in this thread I consider to be mediocre or even terrible players compared to the old greats. Why?

Because they have no fundamentals, can usually only play one class, have no sense of teamwork, move like goddamn sloths due to their excessively low sensitivity and m_pitch required for them to get ____ number of headshots so they can brag about it. How many headshots you can get and what your ratio is means nothing. Especially on a beach only pub with outdated useless PunkBuster and sketchy antilag.

I understand that the ECGN server is a public server for people to have fun, not play CAL-I matches. But some of the guys the casual or n00b players worship were never good in competition until the game was dead and the best teams left.

Also, I don't mean to sound cocky but I'm not impressed by the newschool 1337 players aim either. I wasn't even close to being a top shooter back in the day but I can go toe to toe with this server's best aimers. And I play on Vista with 100 ping (at best), 60hz on a 5ms widescreen LCD, and no timenudge or bullshit settings to make me warp. I get accused of cheating a lot even though I have never been a suspicious player and have never cheated in any multiplayer game. I'm even using the same CD Key I bought in late 2001.

So to answer the question more accurately, the best RTCW player doesn't exist in this era. If you want my opinion on the current best ECGN player, I'm not entirely sure because I rarely spec other people but caffeine seems to be a pretty good well rounded player who plays Wolf like it should be played. He's a shittalking loudmouth from a seemingly lame Birdz team and I don't think his aim is as good as mine or some others on the server but those factors don't matter much.

Currently my choices for best ECGN only-kills-matter ratio whores are remedy, mofo, glockgoespop, etc. That's all I can name off the top of my head. boo7y seems like he's stuck between being a well rounded player and being a ratio whore. If any of those guys are cheating I don't care because their impact on the game is too minimal to matter to me. I still like to talk shit to remedy and mofo though because it's fun.

Best NA player of all time is pretty much impossible to determine but some of the best I've seen are brian (-a-), valdez (cK), warbringer (phx), qancer (a|), chaoslord (^inc), wombat (dr), jones (d|s), etc. There's too many to choose from. Those players were all great individually but also understood the fundamental aspect that Wolf is a team game, not a 1v1 deathmatch game.

I don't care if people reply to this saying I'm washed up or living in the past or was never good to begin with. It needed to be said.

Bye!

Finally decided to actually read the whole thread.

On the point of the whole he hacked she hacked deal. I don't give a flip about whether they hacked in comp or in a lan, they hacked against other people. That's a huge disrespect to the game and to the people.

On account of Remedy's supposed bust. There used to be some posts about it in the secret Multi-Server admin hideout based at the TAO forums. Mainly between Dyno and 5RDG, it was deemed a farce. As for the astronomical amount of data and cvar checks... With the death of PB in Wolf, came the pruning of that section.

As for well rounded players? You've indeed made me rethink my choice liquidsword .These days, not too many exist that are rounded. Personally, my knife/needle gets me where I need to go.. My lack of sound holds me back from knowing real gamesense, I just see teammate dying at (location) and head that way to back them up. My aim is decent by today's standards.. I can't stand to the remedies, mofos, boo7ys, and skibbs of the server in gunmanship... but the army I revive can. (not to mention the fact I don't let the enemy share my gift)

I'd say that currently.. the most well-rounded player would have to be Macabre. Greatest team player I've run with since I've been relegated to playing ECGN.

I agree Flessan, I would say that you and Macabre are two of the better players in the server.

I'm usually playing while listening to music and I always have voice chats turned off in pubs because they get annoying.

When I'm playing well and putting some effort into my pubbing I think I'm close to those players you mentioned in terms of shooting. Sometimes I'm also guilty of succumbing to deathmatch lameness since everyone else is doing it but I try to refrain from it as much as possible.

I play better on other maps too because I'm really burnt out on mp_beach.

And yeah hackers suck...but unfortunately there's not much that can be done about it at this point. If they're pissing me off I will usually point out the fact they have a brand new CD key and that they would get raped on LAN.

I remember remedy when he used to be named d$c and he would camp corners on mp_base all day with wesleysniper. I laughed at how lame they were and they would challenge me to a 2v2 match. Like that has any bearing on skill whatsoever. If the game was Quake 3, sure. RtCW? Lol.

Not to mention no one here really has much knowledge of euro players - people say raziel b/c of his renowned shot - but what about the other guys? Surely he wasn't the only good player over there

With all that said, there is no real conclusion on who the best player in wolf history is. Unless there were some "international standards" that would be set up by a committee to critique such a player, otherwise everything is subjective.

Be it as it may, I only now realize that everyone has an ego the size of an elephant. And this is what I think of you and pride.

Maybe the question should be... who is the best player you've played against?

Rather than the biggest name drop or the guy with the most popular youtube video... or whoever can be the biggest douche bag and imply that nobody that still plays played back in '01 when the elbows flew like shogun's verbal decimation in the melon farmlands of OSP CHI.

I'm willing to bet that a lot of people still play that were playing back then, since you douche bags all found it necessary to point out in your comments that you were here both then and now... probably watching youtube videos of Raziel.

And yes, Lao and Star are correct about Remedy being set up. It was easily proven that it wasn't him, which is why a league suspention lasted, oh, about 1 day.

However, it is important to note he didn't PLAY at qcon.

I don't think he hacks, actually, I don't care if he does or not. Some people choose to beat the dead horse even though nobody can prove anything anymore (no more LANs). Hacks or not, he's just a top aimer with pretty good movement, but lacks teamplay and communication skills.

Interesting that you make that post without posting your identity, unless you've been a fly on the wall for 7 years.

Hey, I like RaZiel's videos.

I remember in 2001 when me and Mr.Dogday ran a 6 venom sniper hill strat on beach and we beat Doctors and Darkside at the same time, 6 v 12.

if this is directed at me, i hardly see anyone playing these days that was well known in '02. i'm sure there is a decent amount of people still around that played then, but not the players from cal-i, the short lived ritd league or quakecon. i know of a few like caseyjones and nail and some that play under alias like me but i'm not going to reveal their identity.

i wasn't trying to "name drop" i was just naming some of the best players i've seen. if you want me to name drop i can name far more obscure old school players. i don't know what you're referring to with shogun's verbal decimation in osp chi. from what i can remember shogun kept it professional and never talked trash in game, just on forums and irc. unfortunately his antics spawned a generation of wannabes using his lingo for years to come.

on another note, i never went to either rtcw quakecon but i was offered a panzer spot in a few teams in 03. i was never a suspicious player though and never felt i needed to prove myself. just didn't want to pay to travel to texas from california to play computer games all day. good thing i didn't go anyway since the euros were better. which further proves my point that the rtcw scene in NA was on the decline.

juventus, it doesn't really matter who i am. i was known as a good panzer and was on some good teams in my day but that's about it.
i remember you from pubs in '03 though (dropscape perhaps?). more recently you accused me of cheating on ecgn after i unscope mausered you something like five times in a row.

It was easier to be godlike back in the day when 50 percent+ of people playing on the server were less skilled than the bots in single player...

If we're talking seriously I'd always rate the guys that would run through fire to res you over the obsessive KR watching l33ts treating every stray shot from a team-mate that takes 1 health off them like you fucked their mother while they camp irrelevant corners that yield a nice ratio but don't help the team..but then maybe that's just me.

I always liked playing with Mac, Keek, Savant, Beers, Siren (rawr!) and any of my old clan (-tt- for life), the old daytime euro posse (you know who you all are), <BD>, S.S. and {ASB} the game was more fun back then. It should be about team-play and fun and not about personal achievement. The fun died for me when the OSP guys started flooding in, too much attitude not nearly enough fun.

Oh and I still miss the squirrel.

As far as saying "Best NA player of all time is pretty much impossible to determine but some of the best I've seen are brian (-a-), valdez (cK), warbringer (phx), qancer (a|), chaoslord (^inc), wombat (dr), jones (d|s), etc. There's too many to choose from. I have played with all these guys and I would agree with you that they were great players but I disagree that they were the best. The new school era players like Warrior, Slaya, Serbian, Vatican are a better era of players. The game has changed since it started. I would bet you if you put an ALL-STAR team together of new era vs Old school players, old school players would get it handed to them im talking two minute plants and full holds.
