I live in Burlington. work in Waltham and occasionally Boston. The company I work for has buildings all over Mass.

speaking of Holyoke, I've been there only once, I made a delivery to a hardware store in the center of Holyoke, it was my first job after high school about 25 years ago. I felt lucky to get out of there alive. I had to pull my truck down a back alley behind the store, scary man, scary I tell ya. There was about 15-20 ppl just like the dude in the picture and some of them were flipping their switchblades, no joke. I'll never go back there without a pistol, they can have their knives, I'll have my Glock. The area needs a good cleaning anyway, hehe.
Hard to believe that such a shithole exists in some of the nicest mountains,etc...

I grew up right down the highway from there. The Flats are absolute shite; projects, crime and poverty, gangs, drugs, everything! It is sad that Holyoke used to be one of the wealthiest and best places to live in the early 1900's (20's and 30's, up until the 50's I might say...) due to the old mills powered via the canals in the Flats of Holyoke. Then when the water power was replaced by electric and other machinery, Holyoke fell to shit, overrun by scum. It is really that sad. The birthplace of volleyball is ruined by it.

Speaking on a similar matter, Springfield, the birthplace of basketball, went the same way. Just a shame the state doesn't give a fuck about Western Mass. :no:
