Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

I do go to school here, but I you have to live on campus in order to get their internet service. I live in an apartment off campus (actually most students who go to Penn State live off campus), so I'm forced to go and get internet from the private companies.

Yea basically DSL will suck if your far from the CO put it that way. Call up Verizona and ask where the CO is from your place they'll tell you.

Horsepower, I've heard with DSL alot of your download/upload speed depends on your distance from the main line or something (can't remember what it's called). Do you know if there is a site, or a number I could call where I can ask what my distance is and what kind of speeds I will get? Thanks for the help.

broadbandreports has a distance checker. but hold it with a grain of salt because it shows me at 18,000 feet from my CO. this numbver doesnt mean anything because is have a remote DSLAM(what you connect to with DSL) about 2,000 feet from me. check Verizon's DSL page to see if they have something that can qualify your phone line online(maybe someone here can point it to you).
