Windows XP connection to Net?

Sat Dec 06, 2003 8:51 pm

Anyone know why when i hit F3 from the WinXP desktop that Windows XP tries to connect to Microsoft? Kerio Firewall catches it, and it tries every time.

Hmm, when I press f3 I get the search window prompt. I dont know all the times my computer without my knowledge connects to the internet, but I guess you do with Kerio.

And yeah, I hit F3 to do a search and then noticed this. XP is pissing me off if it is going to try to connect to the Fourth Reich (Microsoft) every time I do simple OS functions.

You need to turn off all non-essential services. XP-Antispy is a good little utility to start with. Windows Media Player calls home everytime you start it.

Go down to "SAFE" Windows XP Services Configuration: and use the appropriate file (Pro or Home edition). I use that and then disable more to my liking.

yes there are atleast 16 hidden net connections to M$ servers with xp, here is one link I know of:

do some searches for xp hidden connections, tweak xp, xp services.

yeah there are some guides on the net that are helpful, just make sure you backup you current setup before trying some of the tweaks out there.
