Hey - don't laugh! We actually had to do that once too when some smacker parked in front of the hydrant. Those hoses can't bend too much, so it's not like you can just go around him. There's a reason why there's no parking in front of a hydrant.
The funny thing was - the guy threatened to sue us for breaking his windows. That is, until the Sheriff's Dept. came, gave him a ticket for illegal parking, and offered to put him in jail for hindering the FD.

The fire dept. is also legally allowed to push your car out of a fire lane with one of the engines if it is in the way. The owner of the car then has to pay the fire dept for any damage done to thier engine.
