http://www.emeraldpopstop.com I used that before I knew you could disable the messenger in admin settings. Works great on Messenger Service Pop ups and regulars pop ups.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned the Google task bar as a method for popup blocking. It's amazingly awesome - it has a google search area built in, and does an outstanding job of blocking popups. You can get it here - http://toolbar.google.com/
And no, it's not spyware. Doesn't install anything bad on your comp. Doesn't take up much space, processor time, or memory. It's by far the best thing I've found.

When 16 pop-up ads appear simply by bootingmy PC, then something is wrong.
I like to keep things simple. I hate running any extra software on my machine, especially if I can solve the initial problem simply by adjusting my browsing habits and/or awareness of what's running on my PC.

Either you can get pop ups or you can not, pick one. And no, not going to sites that have pop ups pop up on your screen does not count as not having any pop ups possible on your computer.

Jimmy, some sites produce the odd pop-up. I can take one pop-up. When 19 ridiculous pop-ups appear out of nowhere it's then that I know there's something wrong.
I don't need special software to solve every single one of my problems.
Keep things simple, be aware of what's going on on your machine and you won't have to endure endless pop-ups.
Pretty easy solution, in my mind.

I go to sites like ESPN and IGN, and they always have pop-ups of some kind, some that even meaya doesn't take care of...
I don't see why I should limit my surfing habits for this stuff, so I use meaya... works pretty well, but sometimes it will block a web page you are TRYING to look at from coming up, then you have to disable it for a minute...

If I told my clients to install some mystic software on their machines for every single annoyance they had to endure, they'd have about 5% resources left. It's bad enough my Anti-Virus hogs 24MB of memory to run, let alone running pop-up stoppers, SPAM monitors, et al.
Keeping things simple and watching where you surf seem to be a much better alternative to me...and my clients.

Google toolbar is awesome. Although, at first, I was reluctant to install it, I've found no reason to not use it.

You are makin ti sound bigger than it is. pop up stopper barely uses any resources to run.

That is why i like pop up starter, you can bind a key to hold down to allow a pop up to happen, no need to disable it.

You're probably right, but I hate giving in to anything. If I can control pop-ups (or any annoyance for that matter) by simply learning what's going on and avoiding those situations, I opt for the simpler soultion.
My resources are precious to me!!!

Mozilla 1.6 was just released and it has a good built in pop-up blocker and tabbed browsing

use spyboot S&D and ad-aware also
Try opera also for a web browser never get pop up's with it either.
