I have played with all these guys and I would agree with you that they were great players but I disagree that they were the best. The new school era players like Warrior, Slaya, Serbian, Vatican are a better era of players. The game has changed since it started. I would bet you if you put an ALL-STAR team together of new era vs Old school players, old school players would get it handed to them im talking two minute plants and full holds.

Although I don't know any of those players, I'd prolly agree with you partly because new > old. And besides when a game first comes out some people will dominate cause the other players aren't as good, but as the game progresses people get better. HALO for example, when I first got it I was a beast, and since I stopped and returned, I now suck. Not because I cant shoot, but because the game has changed alot and other players have gotten better, resulting in a new class LIKE YOU SAID!

What I'm trying to say is that people get better with time, and I suck at halo.

Not helping team? so that means they are not reving, not gibbing, not giving ammo, calling in airstrikes, not shooting, not passing out health packs, and not killing. If any leet does one of those things they are helping the team because thats one less enemy, one more revive, one more pack. If the team were to be any good, they could then go for docs, or plant. It would be chaos if everyone went for docs while no one was trying to kill the enemy, or revive. That is what makes a team a good "team"

The goal would be alot simpler if the entire team would be dead. I also fail to see the obsession over the KR. I've never really seen players gloat or be proud of them. But it would measure how efficient you are.

It's true as the game went along people got better. I could name you a few players that in my opinion where awesome.

D|S-Chaoslord - Best Sniper in the game at one point before his connect went to crap.
Slaya/Warrior -Great shooters all out ragers.
cK-Valdez - Awesome Lan player he really tore it up for us at qcon vs gmpo.
Lynch NARF - Best Panzer
Remedy - Turned into a really great player even though he got alot of flack about hacking. Did he? I have no idea I doubt it.
Lot-Crucif1x - Back in the day he was the man on Locked on Target.
Wombat - Great all around player.
dT-Chrome - NOt bad..

A lot of players got busted TRYING HACKS for a laugh not in game. You can generalise all you like but there were people out there who were as good as remedy and proved at lans. So it is a equally likely that he didnt hack as he did.

Take Frontline Daniel - TOTAL BEAST no hacks did it at lan.
Slag - just total brutaility.
So many others, I htink you guys have got it into your heads that everyone hacked

No offence to your opinion but Daniel was on my team in Frontline me warrior daniel zorro leethal valdez and sunstyle. I would have to say Daniel and zorro where one of the worst lan players ever. Daniel had the wiggle that shit dont work on lans. Sorry dan if you read this.

Bread definitely deserves a mention in this thread - one of the all-time greatest players, and one hell of a nice guy. Bread, Akasha, and I would occasionally stay up late pistol-dueling... good times! Not that it did any good for my aim though

I remember watching Bread repeatedly stopping seven man teams in their tracks with only a pistol and a knife. I think he eventually made his way to ET, and then disappeared from view.

The team that always impressed me the most was Empire (III). Classy, and amazing team play - also very nice fellows.

well of course if you put the newer players vs. the rusty old players now, the newer players would win. but you're not looking at the big picture. it took people years to reach the level of the 2002 players and in that time computers and hardware got better. i agree with weezy in that it's like the 1992 olympic men's basketball team vs. the 2004 team. also you have some good choices on your list rambo but i think it's a little biased. there was never an elusive in xil either, maybe you mean exodus.

Rambo, i'm not sure where the line is drawn that separates new school and old school, but I generally agree with your assessment. Naturally, players got better at aiming (along with better hardware). However, if you consider FX new school and -a- old school, then I would say that FX had better players, but -a- is a better team. Teamwork, communication, and strategy became a lost art towards the end of competitive RTCW.

I don't think that Olympics comparison is correct. Rambo is saying take an old school team in their prime and face off against a new school team in their prime and the new school would win. Again, I do not know what where the line is drawn exactly between the eras. To me, it boils down between new school having better aimers and years more game experience vs. old school having better comms, teamwork, intelligence, and maturity. Who would win? I suppose new school's aiming would be too much. However, if you gave each team a month to prepare for a game RIGHT NOW when everyone's shot is essentially rusty, then i'd go with old school.

i don't think the aim of newer players is better..in terms of pure aim the old players who switched from q3 had ridiculous aim, but they were also using outdated hardware like 400dpi microsoft intellimouse, even ball mice and played in low resolutions with lower fps. most people back then didn't use the really low pitch and low sens style either, more of a twitchy quake style.

With allied lives higher than axis lives you're not going to skull allies unless the teams are stacked. So padding kr by camping the upperbase stairs is not helping the team it's just helping the kr. When they inevitably skull from /killing the team's no better off at all.

To be honest you almost get to the stage where you rate gibs and revives higher than kills because killing a guy and letting him be revived is totally useless.

As for reviving you can't revive when you're off on your own camping corners...

Honestly there's a large chunk of players that won't res you even when you are lying at their feet because moving spot will mean the much practiced cornercamp head shots will not land if they move from their allotted spot.

Don't get me wrong there are some great team-players from ther OSP crowd...but they are in the minority. Ramboism is rampant.

I'm not talking exclusively about strats. I'm talking also about how teams adjust on the fly, how individual players make decisions to help the team win the game, and timing awareness in terms of spawn. When a player has a superior shot, he does not need to think about much else other than killing the opposition. The game becomes easier because you can shoot your way out of bad situations.
