I guts the demo...
I downloaded the playable demo about a week ago. It's still in early BETA (and it shows) but it's impressive as it stands.
Can't wait to see the final product! I'm remembering those late nights in a dark room scared out of my whits playing the original...
I also remember playing the original demo more than any other game I've ever played...I tried winning levels with pistol only, winning as fast as I could, finding all the secret levels, starting each level from scratch and/or playing each level on each difficulty setting and never getting tired of it.

this BETA you speak of is non-existent. The version you have is actually the leaked Alpha that surfaced about 7-8 months ago...It started a whole conspiracy thing between ATI and iD's John Carmack.
So sorry Sinsei
Excuse my terminology, Oh Lord of the Exact. Let me re-phrase, in order to appease the Great Digi-God;
"I downloaded the playable demo about a week ago. It's still in early ALPHA (and it shows) but it's impressive as it stands."
Actually, it is a bit rough around the edges. The levels are nowhere near complete, only bits and pieces and the textures are incomplete and rather plain except for a few select areas (the demon(?) looked particularly impressive).
It looks like it has potential, but after seeing a few Half Life 2 game scenes, I can't imagine Doom III matching Half Life for sheer realisim and immerisve game-play.

LoL...
Didn't mean to flame you, just that you should know it was an alpha and that you can expect the beta to be a lot better.
