Look at most sports throughout this century. Basketball, football, hockey, etc etc - the players have the same build now as they did in any period of their respective sport.
When you look at baseball, pre-70's, virtually all baseballers were very skinny, lanky characters, and the few others were fatties. Pre-1980, baseball was not knnow as a sport of the muscular or well built athlete. Nowadays the players look like they've been pumped up with an air pump. They all use enhancers like a dog uses a bone.

It's true that in most sports players are getting bigger and stronger, that more of them are using drugs to get there. But I think there are other reasons.
First, money. Sports represents huge amount of money (Yankees = over 100 million in players salery... immagine the value of the league). More and more players hope to get to the big league, so the competition is bigger, then you and up with better athlete.
After that there is the "drug" issue. Almost every athlete use suplements. Whats the differents between suplement and drug... law. The better exemple is that the same product can be both drug and suplements in different contries.
I must still say I think Mac and Sossa are steroided
PS Excuse me for the spelling, English is a second language for me

I heard this morning that they inspected 78 (or was it 87) of Sosa's other bats and found no others that were cork-filled.
It's possible it was a legitimate mistake. I'm not defending him but we have a tendency to jump to conclusions.
But why on earth would you need so many damn bats!?!?

Very well said.

...you forgot: smaller fields, juiced ball, watered down pitching talent, and a strike zone the size of a postage stamp.....
and as far as his 76 bats testing ok....he was ejected in the first inning, but his bats weren't confiscated until after the game...he had plenty of time to "fix" things....
and if it was a bat that he used for BP, that he grabbed by mistake....why was there only ONE corked, BP bat?? If he really uses a corked bat for BP to put on " a show" for the fans....there would be more than one corked bat....SEVERAL of his 10-20 BP bats would be corked...

With all thats said bout bulked up Baseball players, everyone is still forgetting one thing. Hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports, you can be built like a shit brickhouse, but if you dont have the hand-eye coordination, you are just a regular Joe. Just think about how many bulked players are in the minors or the ones that couldnt even make the minors
I still give kudos to those that can hit a curve. I'm not advocating cheating and I think he should be suspended, but I'm still in awe of the gifted hitters and all-around players that are in the sport.
I agree that the amount of homers have jacked in the last few seasons, with expansion and new smaller parks being built the problem. Baseball knows what brings the fans not 0-0 pitching duels (although thats what I like to see) its the shots that leave the stadium. Oh well, we get what we ask for, then we bitch.

I almost agree on the first part... hitting a golf ball is still the hardest thing in my opinion.
Also, I didn't ask for it.. and that is why I don't watch WWE in the ballpark anymore. I don't even really bitch, I just don't watch.
Homeruns are boring.... entertaining for those that don't understand the game.
