now back to where names came from...
I started with the nick, KeRaK, which means absolutely nothing, except for the cool sound... but after playing Counterstrike for months, I had the tendency to be the one always rushing, thus putting me in front of everyone else, protecting (shielding) others from ammo fire... during a game, we were playing dust and was rushing under the bridge, when someone said "where's our meatshield"... it kinda stuck...

And when I started playing RtCW i decided to use this as my name as well. The end =)
- El Cid
El Cid
El Cid was a real person. In the 11th Century (1000-1099) there was a Spanish knight from a region in northern Spain called Bivar. El Cid Campeador "he who was born in a good hour" was basically a kick ass kind of guy. He would take a few men down to Al Andaluz (the region of Spain occupied by the Muslims) and sack some cities and towns. The Cid captured the Muslim strong hold of Valencia from a Muslim Caliph. The Cid would then lay seige to another city, and extort ransom from other cities, all the while picking up horses, booty, and women. Life really did not mean much to him. This was when to kill a man, you litterally had to stab him with a sharp peice of iron. He was tough.
El Cid in Castillian means "The Lord". El Cid was a title given to any land holder who had been granted a noble title. The name El Cid specifically refers to this man because of a famous work of literature about him entitled "The Poem of the Cid". But his real name was Ruy Diaz.
