The Radeon 9800 NON-Pro

Postby Freedom » Tue Jun 17, 2003 6:27 pm

Does anyone know anything about the ATI Radeon 9800 "NON" Pro?

I was at Best Buy at lunch today and saw the Radeon 9800 was only $299. I was SO excited that I grabbed it and ran to the check out before they could correct their mistake. It was only when I got home that I noticed it is the 9800, and not the 9800 PRO. The strange thing is that I cannot find any info on the card - not even at http://www.ati.com

I haven't opened it yet because I think I might return it.

Thanks. I did just that and decided to keep the card. I Overclocked it to the PRO levels and everything runs like a dream. Some of those sites had the thing OCed to insane levels.

Overall I am very impressed. I am getting higher FPS but not by a bunch (over my Ti4200 believe it or not), but it's just beautiful. I am amazed. Especially in BF. WOW!!!

They are usually cards that are "powered by ATI", but not made by ATI. Have seen some real deals on computer upgrades. Gammers fantasy these days!!!

No. This one is made by ATI in the ATI box exactly like the PRO model - just slightly slower clock speeds and $100 cheaper.

But as far as the ones made by other manufacturers - those often tend to be better - like the Sapphire Radeons for example.
