Just a little venting
1: Spawn Camping: This does not exist in BF1942 playing Conquest, which is what the servers run. Overruning the enemy uncapturable base is what people are usually complaining about(not always though, often it's a capture point they whine about), and we frown on doing that if your team does NOT own every flag on the map. Hard and fast rule...we don't have one.
Sounds pretty frikkin clear to me. So why is it on BF42.com #1 last night, the axis with the only online mod and a team advantage was in our rear area on Salerno before all the spawn points were taken?
It was one of the pilots of course, he was shot down in our rear area and was using our vehicles to kill people as they spawned. We killed him no bigge, it just cost 4 vehicles and 4 or 5 tickets to do so. But while we were having to deal with it there were fewer people available to defend our one remaing spawn point.
By the time we were able to get out of our base we had lost our last point. Seems to me that sitting in the rear and camping even if your plane gets shot down before the enemy is out of spawn points is just ghey.

One or two people harassing the opponents main base is a valid tactic.............we used it to great advantage in the last BOTA.
The reason it is a valid tactic is exactly as you described, it diverts attention and resources away from the main battle so that one side can gain an advantage over the other.
The thing that is frowned upon is people taking their tanks and running to the uncapturable, when those tanks can be used to capture the flags that are not already held.
Buli and Conan always parachute inside the uncappable base on El Alamein and they always manage to snag the damn M10.

I must say that the camping rules have changed over the past several months. In the past, it was an instant kick if you weren't on TS and you were in an enemy base while not holding all the flags. If you were on TS, you'd better have a good explaination for being there.
Maybe, it's just the way that some of the past admins interpreted the base-camping rules...

I always took like this all is fair in love and war in bf you really can't base camp aka spawn kill, as in other games this is more of an issue for the team doing the camping rather then being camped...basicly if you don't have the flags you should be busting your ass trying to get them rather then just attacking a base that you can't take...thus wasting our resources. That is the way I see it

i interpret this to say,"we don't have one" the admin's may
"frown" but its not against the rules.
if i had been residue, shot down behind enemy lines i would
have done the same as he did.

To clarify my earlier statement, if your team doesn't own all the bases, that's probably the only good reason to be at an enemy's uncapturable base...
That said, I don't think it applies anymore. In fact, you'll usually see a couple to several troops headed that way...
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in the boat and drink beer all day...
Still, you can count on a few sarcastic remarks from Chacal if someone drives a tank in the enemy base.
I usually don't bother kicking because the offender isn't going to last long anyway.

What about being kicked for shooting a scud from your main base, to the enemies main base? I was kicked for this. Instead of phrasing it as "frown upon" maybe just make "DONT DO IT" That way there isnt the confusion. Not to sound sarcastic, but whats a guy to do when he's shot down near a main base? Suicide? Run back home?...lol.

Well, if I get shot down near the enemy's base I'll procede to make as much havoc as I can. Like you said Blackrock, I ain't gonna run home to momma!!!! Doesn't make sense to do anything else. We admins just fround upon 'tard players that 'camp' an uncapturable base when there's still flags that could be captured. But.... having planes and/or tanks keeping the other sides planes and vehicles from making advances is always helpful for your team.
Damn!!! Now that I've said this, it's hard to distinquish between 'camping' and good battle tactics. Keeping an enemy down at a 'main' base could be very helpful. But, if there's other flags they can spawn at, it doesn't help out much if at all...other than for the player's stats.
Hard to explain, harder to properly admin.....

There's the rule, then there's the application of it...
For me, driving a tank in the uncappable enemy base is like driving it to the airfield to get to the planes faster. It's a selfish move, aimed at getting more frags. That tank should be used to get flags.
