Steam not working??

Postby Kool-Aid » Sun Sep 14, 2003 2:25 pm

is it just my computer or does steam just work like balls... my friend told me he was having the same difficulties.... i got in at first, updated my games, then, it takes like 5 minutes for it just to start up, and when it does, i can browse the game list but when i open the next window and it shows the info about the server it hangs and crashes.... it sucks ass

let me know if anyone else is having these difficulties and if anyone knows a way to fix them....

Thanks!

Steam Beta ran fine. Was a great program. But the final runs worse than Windows ME..

If you want to play CS with steam, download Steam with the the CS Cache, it works perfectly. If you download the regular steam, you have to wait through the 200202 hour download, then the slow ass install, then the fact that it won't connect to a server half the time. I suggest you download with the cache. Not that I like playing with that retarded riot shield or anything...

Steam doesn't work for me, either. This doesn't bode well for the upcoming release of HL2 which is supposedly available via Steam.

I wonder if it's a port issue. I read something about making sure some ports were forwarded but I didn't follow through on it.

way to bump an old post up. but anyway.

I heard Steam was having problems before so maybe that's why you couldn't connect

Steam really sucked when it first came out, but so do most programs that have 12983019283091823 downloading it at the same time... :\

but now that a couple of bug fixes and shit like that, it seems like steam is pretty stable and easy to use.
