The value of a Flame-Thrower:
Ok, most of you guys know my wepon of choice, and all I have to tell my teamates is, "I am in my position" and half of you will tell me, "stay there Tender, I'll be there to give you ammo."
So I sit there in that stairwell, flaming away. It's allmost a skilless job, just pulse the button, and if you see them a crackling, point a little. If a 'nade comes flying, move and hope you wont get gibbed.
As an allies, I stand there the second I can get there, sometimes beating all others to that post. I can tell that it scares the heck outta you all by all the pineapples that get tossed down my shirt, but also I hope you all are just a bit relieved that you can trust that there is not going to be a Axis or 5 there waiting to bottleneck the game at that point.
I have my fun as an Allies, seeing you all fly past me, sometimes refilling my health or my ammo, and I get to see how long it takes for you to return and pass me again.
As Axis, its a tougher job! Allies love that stairway! When I am by myself, I will get them all at least once, before they come back knowing. Its a hard position to hold as an Axis, but I have stayed there entire games, with the help of a quick medic and a Leutendant to fill me up sometimes.
I know them allies gave up on my post and tried the front way for the intire game that day.
I allways ask tho, "Where am I needed with this flamer??"
I wrote today because we really needed a flamer to clear out the bunker were we were getting slaughtered, and I found both of the flamers just trying to get respawn the entire game. How useless of good weapons!
So, I have to ask you guys, Where am I best needed with it?

I would rather see you with flame than some ignorant newb. NEVER underestimate the importance of controlling the back stairway, it is the artery to victory. He who controls it more than likely will win the game. Continue doing what your doing, hopefully the second flamer will get his azz to war room to clear it out. Unfortunatley, more often than not some newb grabs it to camp in spawn area, thus helping his team....NOT.

Oh, boy! I had fun. I found out that that flamer scares the living crap out of them Axis in the hallways leading to the war-room!!! You guys will see me running past you more often in the front line to clear the way for you. Every time I made an avance, it seemed like the Allies were in controll of the war room by the time I got there!
I love when flamers on the opposite team sit in the back stairs with it. It is so satisfying holding a grenade, waiting until you hear 4 clicks, turning around the corner, and nailing the flamer before he can move. You even get the lieutenant and the medic trying to heal and give him ammo. I like flamers.

OH! So you are the guy that I fry 3 times before you get it right and time it just... I think you are fun to burn, and see you try over and over and over to get just one flamer. For that one 'nade that gets me, I hold that stairwell for 4 or 5 generations of re-spawn.
If you really want to get me, just be a med and with full health run up and poison me then drop a 'nade to gibb me.
Sigh, I have never seen just one grenade take out my entire support team.
There, I showed you the true way to do it, try it out.

If you were as good with the flame as you think, that medic with the full health and poison wouldn't stand a chance. It may still take a few chances.
I don't care how many lives it takes...the flamer's death is rewarding, as well as the death of his WHOLE support team.
By the way, "4 or 5 generations of re-spawn" is still only a matter of seconds, and at most slightly more than a minute.
I don't use the flamethrower because I feel someone else on the team may be better with it, and therefore more suited to use it. Perhaps you should do the same.

Is this directed at me? If so, thanks for clearing it up. It's strange because when I throw my grenade in there, I kill 2 or 3 people almost everytime. It looks like it wasn't actually killing three people but only one...if even that. I must be hallucinating when I run down the stairs after throwing a grenade too. I have to be because I keep seeing dead bodies laying there. Wow this is freaky!
If I am not going insane, looks like MMmmgood has a few things to fix on the server thanks to your input. In any event, I hope you like fruit because I will be feeding you pineapples if you keep up with the flaming.

remind me to be on Vittles team when joining..
I really, really , really can't stand turning the corner for back stairs running into flames.. ...wait hold this a sec..
also, a really handy place with the flamer is (first you would be an ally) just outside the upper axis spawn area where the metal railing is...this way, an axis would spawn, run into the open room beside the radio.. and then outside to be B-B-Qed.
I will just have to stay a medic... although I am always looking down for an unmanned flamethrower..

Aphid, I am sure you can apreatiate that when you round that corner and there is an allied flamer there making sure the Axis on your butt get nailed, and making sure that the next time you round that same corner there wont be an Axis there...
I am sure that you can also appreatiate that same flamer that clears the hallways to the war-room so 5 or more can get in there.
And thanks for leaving the flamthrower to someone who knows how to use it better...
